Sorry If this might have been mentioned before but it seems that Aviva Directory has a PR0 now and Google removed their site links as well. just a few weeks ago they had site links and I am pretty sure they were Pr 5 also.

Unfortunately yeah, i see that too, regarding sitelinks i notice on sites they appear, disappear, are halved, all the time.

I keep seeing change in a competitor i watch.

I guess Google's changing the rules for directories again. I wonder why, they are big enough to allow some directories to earn a living. This wont even make the slightest dent in Google's profits.

Very frustrating as I really like Aviva and think it provides incredible value. I will still be supporting Jeff and his directories no matter what Google says.

I guess this kind of events will not be few in the future. Google declared war to directories since long time ago, and the weapons against the directories are : SERPs, PageRank & deindexing...

its pathetic how Big G wants to monopolize the net. And they were whimpering about monopolies when Microsoft was going to buy Yahoo

I'm afraid they won't finish on net.
It's pretty possible very soon your car will have tons of Google gadgets or even will be a Goggle product in all.
For vacation you will fly by Google Airlines.
Your fridge will be full of food "Made by Google"
    next star willbe called Google,
your money will be deposited in Google bank,
Pacific Ocean will be renamed to Google Ocean,
no more Big Mac - only Big Google,
no more pepsi or coca - will be Google Cola
DIGITAL POINT will be GOOGLE POINT!

    Any more ideas? :D

If MattCutt de-penalized the directory (when it was PR3) then why he made it PR0 later ?

All the directories combined is only earning peanuts compared to Google revenue which is in billions, frankly I cant see why they won't even leave the peanuts for us.

Pray hard for Yahoo and Microsoft merger.

google had a eye on them ever since they hogged the limelight as a major directory.this was just a late consequence of google's actions

All directories have not been penalized - as an example show me how Yahoo has been penalized..

They have penalized those they feel have violated their guidelines, which is a pretty small percentage overall.

Is not about money is about keeping their #1 position as long as they can. They know money and many other things will follow.

But the bigger Google gets the easier it is to fall from the #1 position. They know there is no way Google can hold on to that power forever.

On the other hand, why are we so obsessed with Google?

We are the ones that gave life to Google and we are the ones that can take its breath away.

Now, directories owners should be thinking in creating new ideas to make their directories more attractive to visitors.

There is no reason to be so dependent on Google or anything else.
