"Avg. Position " under search queries in google webmaster tools

    Does the "Avg. Position " under search queries in google webmaster tools is accurate.
    I m finding some are accurate some information is not accurate.

    It's mostly accurate based on the selected date as well as the country targeted... keep in mind that this could be affected due to ranking in various Google Local for ex: Google.ca etc...

    also when you check your rankings google takes into account each user's preferences (i.e. google personalized search).

    man, it's from Google itself, even you can say it's not most accurate, but it must be most authorized.

    but one of my keyword is showing avg. position 13 . But when i check manually , keyword position is 330.how u see this.

    best way to check rank is to clean cache, then go to the local datacenter and place the search

    It is very accurate in context with Google search, you can check it by searching it with the same keywords.

    I think is accurate as much as Google is consign, most of the statistic in Google webmaster tools account are accurate.

    I have (from time to time) queries that are displayed to have collapsed with 100-200-300 places - maybe you are seeing the older stats from google and that query will eventually (and unfortunately) be updated in webmaster tools to reflect it's current position...
