Average shopping cart abandonment rates?

    Hey all. I'm wondering if there are any industry averages for shopping cart abandonment rates? For our shopping cart we have five steps:

    Shopping Cart > Shipping > Payment > Place Order > Thank You

    We have our traffic analysis software set up so we get abandonment rates at each step of the process. Obviously, 0% is great :D but totally unrealistic so I'm wondering what type of numbers we should be shooting for.

    If anyone has any thoughts here please let me know.

    I usually get 2% or less rate. There is really no reason you should have people leave their cart. It usually happens when they are checking out and find out that your shipping rates are bogus or that they experience some kind of cc problem and just give up.
