    60$ a month is just a myth..
Maybe thats what people get paid in rural areas or that what sweepers get paid.
I run a small it outsourcing and bpo unit and we take guys with little/no skills and no formal education for upto 150$ a month.

a decent meal for .25 cents? I spend $4.84 cents on lunch everyday, not to mention a couple of pops from the pop machine, which are a dollar each, then a pack of cigarettes is almost 6 bucks, driving to work is 20 miles each way and gas is like $3.15 a gallon now, and my car only gets 15 miles to the gallon.

Cheaper Wages = Cheaper Cost of Living.
And btw, i dont think you can get a decent meal at 0.25 cents, maybe for 50 cents :p

    Again a myth.
Income of IT Professionals here is nowhere near what they pay the americans.

The reason why it companies outsource here is because of lower wages, if they wanted to pay more they would rather hire an american or australian IMO

We had a contract with one of the largest registrar based out of USA for several years and they used to pay $3000 for 10 Reps. and the Reps. used to get $200/month for 8 hours job. That means $7/day ( $0.90/hour )

I kept things rolling for 4 years just cause it gave those poors a job and the company was not that troublesome for that amount!

Going by trends and standards, its just for the cost effectiveness that job's are outsourced to indian shores.
The number of people who return to india is still only 50% of the number of people who leave the country to foreign lands  .
Silicon Valley will never see a BIG effect due to outsourcing.
Outsourcing is just making a few indians rich and its making the American Bosses richer.

have you considered setting aside a small percentage of your profits as payment bonus, (think of it as morale boosting, and employe loayalty insurance (things are getting better in india sooner they will expecting a better pay) )
