I write strictly gambling content currently..

I rather fell into this hobby turned career by accident. Brainstorming one evening, a read a post on another forum, a gambling affiliate (also forum friend of mine) was asking for a review writer. As I began to write a PM responce to her, I recalled reading other posts on the same topic...

I decided rather than to PM her back, I would post and offer the service, I needed the cash for a specific reason, and this way I might get 2 or 3 orders from my post, rather than one from the PM.

So two days and nothing, and honestly it never dawned on me at the time that it was the weekend, until Monday came along, and my email blew up! Before long I had more than I could write, and since have partnered with a few friends and we all write together.

Now that things have evened out, I'm naturally considering expanding. But let me just say, I've never written for less than $50! Okay that isnt true, one really great customer asked me to write 4 'blurbs' of about 100 words each, for $25 each.

So as I'm looking, and talking to people, I keep seeing $5 !!! 1000 words for $5, 500 words for $5 .. everything seems to be five bux.. is this really the going rate for website content?

What is the average going rate for non gambling related conent? I love to write by the way, so yupperz, all of my posts will be this long, and take 20 minutes to get to the point hehe ;) Furthermore, it is against my political beliefs to spell check, or give a .. hoot.. about the spelling or grammar of any forum post, friendly email, or instant message :p

Okay again, not really, but just to beat the 'commenters' to the punch, word comes with spell check, I use it when I need to, aside from that, i dun rilly cair :)

Charge what you feel your time is worth and if you are new discount it a bit so you can get some satisfied clients and go from there. Realize that a lot of people writing articles are not necessarily natural english speakers nor from the US, and sometimes there is a demand from clients to have American/Native English writers.

Don't feel just because someone else is charging $5.00 for an article that you need to charge $4.00 for an article Writing is not a commodity service for most web authors and you can charge more for quality.

When I posted this, I was pretty new here, and got lost in the many many other threads hehe. But! I've found my way back :) Thank you guys for the replies (I know I know a lil late) I'm glad to read someone say it isn't about the price.. funny thing there, I generally get 3-4 comments stating that my price is to high, no matter what the topic or the price, and 10-20 orders ;) heheh .... glad to read others that think that the price should have to do with my time, and the value i believe my work offers :)

    Thanks again
