Means your pages are recognized by Google but aren't valuable enough to be included in the normal results.

Would any of you be willing to post sites where you paid some of the bigger amounts?

One poster mentioned paying $50. Since I've been playing around with the idea of making a niche directory I would be interested in seeing what makes a directory special enough to charge those kinds of rates and actually get them.

It is kind of hard to put a price on a directory listing unless you are really established, and a good niche that webmasters greatly want the exposure and quality click thrus coming from you. There's been a bunch of directories that have come and went. It is only a matter of time.

If you are just trying to screen people out by using the charge, then do $1 for regular submissions (and be sure to explain clearly why you are charging the $1) and then charge a slightly higher price for the better submissions.

I don't want that low, because I don't want my directory to get too crowded either, I want people who submit to my directory get clicks from it. Also I don't want that low, because the time and money I spend on advertseing it, I want to get something out of it. If I charge one dollar, I won't promote it as much.

If it is possible $1 submissions brings more than 5x the new submissions, it may be more worth the time and money you spend on it. I don't know your exact position, you need to do the financial and market analysis yourself.
