please let's do all here in public in THIS forum

looking at the thousands of forums that could need adsense optimization ( incl THIS forum ) I prefer to share all with all - there are enough adsense $ for all publishers !

    Yeah thats fine.

My particular question is on placement. I don't see how I could change that around much more than I already have done? Also, are there any other ad sizes that you think would work well?

I see that you never took the time to read my blog on that subject

    1.
G help pages have 3 ( THREE ) most successful ad formats published

    2.
the best paying placement is ATF center

    3.
the best add format ATF is 336x280
    image_text
    NO filters
link color as published dd0000 or cc0000

    4.
the best placement for vertical is LEFT - top - above nav bar if you have one

    5.
a horizontal link unit 5 links above all on top of page center - link color 0000ff

currently thats all i can say because since abou tone hour your site no longer loads here after repeated attempts - or at least NOT within reasonable time

    besides above
keep your bright / white color of the forum - that's the best for adsense - keep all colors friendly and bright

Yeah sorry. The traffic is killing the server. We are looking into getting it upgraded now.

do you have a new host ? or looking for good european hosting for dedicated root server ?
I moved last october to europe ( DE )
    http://www.hetzner.de/rootserver.html
and have an excellent root server in HW/SW and all i need for some 59 euro/m - there are lower packages root server as well

i am very happy and chose hetzner.de because i had professional friends being hosted there for years fully satisfied as well

unlimited traffic - 2x300 GB SW-raid - LAMP and a free choice of linux dists ....

    Hi,

We have a new server sorted, going to be switching tonight. Furthermore, we are moving to a UK dedicated server next month. :) Thanks for the link though, will certainly look into them for hosting my proxy networks if they allow proxies.

I am quiet sure that they do NOT allow proxy - they are very strict into legal and serious hosting only. the law in DE is very strict for anything that could be exploited as monkey business - the site owner as well as the host both might be held fully liable. - thats the tendency in all EU anyway.
we ( hetzner customers ) watch quiet carefully to never have any hacker stuff in our own network and if usually they are shut down for good.
so i guess you better stay in your own country UK for proxy, your own jails might be more your style if ever you become "hosted" for proxy abuse. at least you get english breakfast in UK
    :)

i think less than 4% is fine (on average days i mean), some day could be higher, and that's normal.

most my sites run in the 2% to %5 range.

But I do have one site that gets 25% to 35%. Pages are purpose built around adsense. Ads are first priority and content is a distant second. Content is also thin on usefulness. They don't find all of what they are looking for on the page just enough to peak their interest. And the only links for more info are adsense + 1 affiliate banner ad.

I use a 336x280 at top left of page, a 200x90 link unit in navigation and a 728x90 at bottom of page to catch those who didn't click above.

Some may call it a MFA. I call it MFHCTR (made for high ctr:D )

Now, if I can just get more traffic to it that would be cool, very cool

Site is new and an experiment in arbitrage. Todays earning was $25. Spent $20 to get it. Net profit = $5

Just been running a few pages for past couple weeks to do tests. Now will be adding a few more pages and buying more traffic to test each page/topic to find ones that are profitable.

It's impossible to give CTR estimates as a general number. A few factors which can make a different are...

-Type of website: (forums, content websites, joke sites etc)
-Website Topic: (Professional subjects or Hobbies)
    -Website Audience: (Younger VS. Older)
    -etc

Don't get too worked up about your CTR. Do some basic optimization which can be found on one of the hundreds of "adsense tips" articles and you will do fine.

The best thing that you can do is to constantly try to improve your CTR. But before you go about doing a lot of changes make sure that the stats you are looking at are accurate (meaning that they have been gathered over a fair period of time and over a fair amount of impressions and clicks).

My average CTR in my MFA's Sites is 20-25%... The highest I got was 42%...
And It was all legal, and traffic all from search engines....

I just bought A Forum now... and i'm going to experiment with the CTR.

With my experience I realized that the most important thing about CTR is that you have to make sure that the person who views yours site... can 100% at least reads the Adsense Ads. I'm blessed that after 1 year of experimenting I made the Perfect CTR template. :)

Exactly! If your content is REALLY good, they are too busy looking at that and ignore your ads.

Thats the main reason Forum CTR's are so low. People get more involved in reading and responding to posts and ignoring the ads.
