    There is no "average" CTR across all users.

    Every site is different. Some have very high CTRs because the site gets the right kind of visitors, the ads are relevant and well placed, and the site's content leaves visitors with just enough residual interest to click on ads.

    Some sites have low CTRs, for any number of reasons. See my sig.

    Don't ask yourself why you have an average low CRT, instead ask yourself why some pages have 10% or more.

    Indeed, a high CTR also means that a lot of people are leaving your site. Although it also means that you receive $$.
    BTW my CTR is about 1.4%

    @mpea,

    Actual term is CTR - Click Through Rate - The percentage of clicks to ad impressions.

    I average 15% ctr across all my sites. One site averages 27%.

    All of it due to the threads I've read here on DP.

    so its the % number of pages viewed once someone has clicked on an add link? (or is it the number of add links clicked compared to the number of times your site page is viewed). I guess im not sure what is ment by "ad impressions"
    Sorry for the silly question

    CTR is simply the number of ad clicks divided by the number of times a page containing ads has been viewed (page impressions). It is NOT based on number of ads displayed (ad impressions) - a page can contain multiple ads but a single view of that page is counted as only one page impression.

    A viewer could click on, say, 5 ads on one page, which would be 500% CTR. But since most viewers of that page will only click on one ad, or not click at all, the average CTR over time will be much lower.
