Hi eveybody, I got a question for you. how many click do you assume the top 10 positions get? let's say a certain keyword has an exact search volume of 6000. How many click the first result will get? the second? (and so on) Does it matter what people search for ? I think that if somebody searching for a product to buy , it is more likely that he would check all the top 10 , is that right? Thanks
I had once a precise example of being a while in #9 then #11 on a MAJOR traffic keyword #11 gave about 10% or previous page one #9 traffic to be top 10 SETPS is NO goal real goal is to be top 1+2 (double result top of page 1 ) anything less than #3 is substantially less valuable in traffic generator unles all or most of your higher ranking competing sites have poor titles and weak descriptions or are only partially matching the exact query real goal is to be an authority site for a smaller or larger number of keywords and always rank in top 10 and many times in top 3 SERPS ! the older your site, the more you publish in your expert field, the easier it appears to get a top 10 or top 3 result. just keep on working more than 10 years and produce meanwhile thousands of pages and you'll see for yourself and you'll forget the one page you have top 3 or so. to survive and succeed you need hundreds of top 10 pages
No I usually don't check all. I click on the ones that have good title pages, descriptions that will send me to the pages. I then go to second page, 3, 4, ... I once had a keyword that got to second positions, and that keyword has volume of 2xxx/day. I got 1000+/day from that keyword.
Just an estimate. 1st position: 80% of searches 2nd position: 50% of searches 3rd position: 40% of searches 4-5 positions: 20% of searches 6-10 positions: 10% of searches 11-20 positions: 1-5% of searches ** Again, this is just a guess.
Like I said before , I think it also depends on what they search for . I f there is a certain product they want to buy , they probably would look for more than 3 websites , right?
I saw some stats a few weeks ago on this. I can't remember the link but I think number 1 gets avg. 48% of searches.
It would depend on the product/service. If its a brand someone is buying they are more likely to search the first few sites that come up to compare products, if its something more unique then there will be less sites checked.
Obviously there are a lot of variables involved. Firstly if the first website in the search result is highly related to the search term, then why go further to the new few websites at the bottom? This is just one example out of so many.
personally, when I search Google, I start reading the titles and desc starting from the first result and go down until I find a title and desc that attracts me then I click. I rarely go to the second page.
This is what I found on other forums and it's confirmed by a few pages I have on the first position: 1st position: 40% 2st position: 15% ... I don't remember the rest. It' also important what competitors you have. If for example you are on the second position and before you is an about page, you have a chance to get more that 15%.
I did not know that there was a second page in google lol i search usually no more than the second and perhaps more rarely, the third page
I don't think they'll check all the top 10 websites... I guess most people check the first, second and last websites.
Generally, I too think it's around 90% for the #1 site , around 50-60% for #2 and 10% if you are below #5.
