I posted it because I thought that it was a useful and relevant link. I wasn't trying to "advertise" a site, be it my site, your site, or the Queen of England's site.
I've seen people with tech websites complaining in the forums about the low click value of tech search phrases - so you may be right Trouble is, there are now so many variables in play with adsense click values, that different tech sites will be getting varying amounts per click on any given day - and of course the click values vary wildly day to day even on the same site
Exactly. What exactly are "tech" ads, anyway? Technology sites get ads about laptops or smartphones or web hosting or routers or high-tech cars or whatever actual keywords are on the page displaying ads.
Yes, unless the site is "themed" or "siloed" then it's going to be difficult to get the best adsense click values from a tech site - but even then laptops are not related to smartphones, TV's are not related to computers, etc. so real LSI can't even be applied unless the site is solely focussed on a single niche like smartphones, or whatever
Nobody can win this argument, as he may be making twice as much as you in your niches, and you may be earning twice as much as somebody else in the same niches My eCPM's is higher than most other people in the same niches as me are getting - but I know people who are getting more than me - because they do things differently to me
I don't think he will have problem until it is just advertisement. He did provide some thing new to me.
How the list generated? Any source? That list looks impressive, but I never get that much eCPM in my Technology Blog.
There are many factors that determine how much you make. Your site may have been smart priced, which means that the clicks you generate are crap and they have lowered your CPM. You may not be taking advantage of ad filtering. This will have an impact on what your CPM is also. How many adsense ads do you have on your page? The fewer ad blocks that you have, the higher you will likely make. Do some research and find out what impact these factors have on your site. And don't blame the messenger because your site is not up to par.
The source was polling information gathered from SEO companies that specialize in managing AdWords accounts.
I have received a bunch of emails from people regarding this list. All of them from people complaining that they are not making this much. I have replied to a few of them asking for details about their sites. Most of the complainers get less than 100 unique visitors a week. Whenever I need a good laugh and a break from the stresses of work, I read one of these emails.
I found the eCPM in the list to be quite low for some niches, is it truly based on 1000 visitors or page views?
Very interesting, perhaps many people get smart priced for trying too hard to get a click while misleading users. When I tried increasing number of ads, overall I get much higher CTR, but my CPC did decrease. Overall the CPM increased for some niches and decreased for others. So I guess it all depends on niche, site layout and other factors.
