Avatar renting?

I have seen some websites are renting avatars from members here, how much does it help?

 

I don't really think it does that much for your traffic, but it might be good for branding.. ! Personally I would rather rent a signature..

 

My Avatar is too HOT to give up for a month Although I may move for 20 bucks.

Do you see the massive spike? That was from these forums and the buzz with renting the avatars (threads it caused, etc). While alexa isnt completely accurate, it is to some extent.

 

Alexa stinks. More people are using browsers that don't work with Alexa.

 

To my knowledge, the toolbar is support on 80%+ of browsers (ie) I think there might even be a FF verion as well, which would bring that total to 95%ish. I would consider those numbers to be over a majority.

It definitely created a stir all this month for SevenSeek and SiteSift.

 

It helps greatly in direct traffic but I would still prefer to go for signatures

 

Again even it works it will only work for webmaster related websites...

 

How so? If you bought an avatar on a car site for your car forum, I think it would work.

 

well I believe it can work on any forum < having AV depending upon forum topic > .. though sigs are better as they take you to the site and AVs dont
