Yep, another vote for firefox. I tried google chrome and quite liked it but I was so happy with ff so no need to change. Never heard avant.
There's nothing that could even compare to Firefox. Sure, Chrome has Google's push... but it could never surpass Firefox.
Avant has been around forever but all it is is a wrapper around IE that adds features but it's still the same crappy IE browser. Don't bother.
I've never heard of an avant browser. What exactly is it, and does it work better than Microsoft internet explorer and Google chrome?
No, IE6 or IE7 was not safe, but IE8 is safe! The "IE is a virus magnet" link is for IE7!!! I almost got a virus on firefox!
IE8 is the safest: http://nsslabs.com/test-reports/NSSLabs_Q12010_BrowserSEM_Summ_FINAL.pdf and... Internet Explorer is the only browser that has the text filter, the image filter, and the gradient background HTML code.
Lol @Trigon. The graphs are for all IEs, not any one version. And you "almost got a virus on firefox"? Then that means you didn't. And how many did you get with IE? (The winner of the last security contest you've all heard about, a neighbor of mine, says Firefox is the safest browser on Windows.)
Lol @Trigon. If you only knew what those were. I wish I did. You can get viruses from gradients and text? Lol! btw, your paper was talked about a long time ago here. It's old news fabricated by Microsoft.
May you show me more websites that say that IE8 is unsafe? And if you think it is unsafe, you can change the setting to "High", and that will block most viruses. I never get viruses because I set it to that. All these codes DO NOT work on Firefox, Chrome, Opera or any other major browser: http://rainbow.arch.scriptmania.com/css/ie_filters_generator.html and http://www.mygen.co.uk/index.php?page=generators§ion=imagefilters and http://www.web-source.net/html_background_gradient.htm and http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex3/document2.htm and MANY other filter scripts.
If data from Secunia isn't good enough for you then I won't help you. Lol! Why don't you just turn it off altogether? Crippling your browser does not make it a better one. Because they are non-standard, only work in IE, only work on Windows and even Microsoft is dropping filters! If you want to show non-standard code, can I start showing you XUL code that doesn't work in IE but works great in Firefox?!
