Hey I have video on my website http://thepennybook.com that I have set to autoplay. Since it isnt loud annoying music I thought maybe the autoplay would be a good idea for catching the audience better. What is your opinions?
Nooooo! Okay, that's just my opinion. I absolutely HATE going to a site and a video starts playing. It drives me NUTS, because I may be in the middle of something else. The WORST offenders are the videos without any controls, where I cannot even go back to catch something I missed. And I sure as heck AM NOT going to sit through a 20 minute video twice. If I am interested in what the site has to offer, I will play the video. With that being said, you have to test. Autoplay videos do work well for some sites...
Yes, it's probably a good idea for increasing sales. The video is the first thing to get people's attention and quickly explain what you're selling. It could be easier to attract initial interest via video than have people wade through long lines of text. But of course you should also have controls in case someone really would rather read the text first.
I actually hate them, Yes you get their attention, but you get their attention to close that page as fast as they can, I don't know maybe I'm the only one that thinks like this, but I wouldn't suggest you do that, you will annoy the hell out of some people
