Automating computer tasks to save time

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has tried any macro development programs like WinAutomation, in order to create programs that do tedious tasks quickly? I figured that, being webmasters, you probably find yourselves doing repetitive searches or data entry tasks which can be automated using this software, and it's really cool!

So far I've made a program that'll find eZine articles in your niche that have a certain view count, and then make an HTML page out of the results, such as this one .

I've also made a program that can, every 10 minutes, grab the current headlining story on the BBC website and send it to my twitter feed ( if I haven't already posted it ), and it will also take the URL of the bbc page, put it into the bit.ly shortening service and make it into a smaller link and post it alongside the story title! All of that is done in the background while I use my computer :).

I think it really could speed up what you can do on the net, I hope you find some useful stuff with it, let us know what you make.

There's a free trial version that you can use to test it out :).

I tried making macros before and it really speed up my work but I couldn't set my macro to run in background without interfering with my current work.
How do you manage to put this program to work in background and use your computer at the same time?

Some jobs will require you to run it on a dedicated machine, because they'll simulate keystrokes. However, in my example, it's all done through the POST mechanism for the web-pages.
