Hey, I am looking to set up an incentive based site which utilizes Commission Junction. The problem is, it is very important that my system be able to automatically detect when a commission is verified, so I don't have to look at the orders page and go sifting through pages of records scanning for one person's ID. Is there any way to have my system automatically know when a sale has been made and confirmed through my affiliate link? Like can CJ ping one of my pages or something? Or, would it be possible to simply scrape the CJ orders page? Thanks. EDIT: One more question for anyone who can answer it. Do some advertisers on CJ have some sort of RSS system so I can show all their products in a catalogue type view?
I doubt it. You would have to have an auto-login to be able to scrape anything. Good idea, CJ should come up with some type of notification system that posts to your site. Good luck.
Well considering this is such an integral part of my site I am going to either A) work out some kind of deal with advertisers (considering the size of companies I'll be dealing with, a personal level of communication such as this is doubtful.) B) Come up with a new way of doing it (which would probably violate CJ TOS) C) Suck it up and manually track orders
Hmm.. Starting a freebie site is also on my project list and I was wondering you (or any1) mind answering any questions.. Are you only going to use CJ? How does it work? Are you going to use a 'free ipod' script? If so, which one? Also, if you have anything else that'll be helpful, please add..
I'm sorry, but I'm doing something totally different. It's basically going to be a "paid to shop" site, but with a lot of twists. It's a nice idea, I just need to work out some kinks. And by the way, you can look into all that stuff at http://www.freepay.com (formerly Gratis). Good luck...
