I would not autosubmit to directories personally. We hand submit to everyone of the directories.

I hand submit all mine. I tend to avoid all auto submit scripts.

i've heard rumors that auto submitting is bad to do (but like i said, they're just rumors).. i don't have any proof of it, but i hand submit anyway.

it looks tempting to do an automatic submit to all those resources but I would hand submit to the directories.

I am new to the internet business. I have bought a website recently and would like to submit it to different directories. Can anyone suggest any directories that I can submit my website to?

See the link of directories in the service mentioned at the top of the thread.

I am the SEO crash test dummy.

I have a web site I recently created with very poor earning potential, The Java FAQ.

I just ran it through this web site to see how it would work.

Before I continue, I should admit that I have been thinking of creating a tool like this one for several months now. I have not started on the project because doing it right would be an unimaginably enormous amount of work with an extremely limited ROI.

These guys are definitely on the right track. They have the structure in place to do directory auto-submissions well, without spamming. There are many improvements that can be made, but these guys are on the right track.

However, on the downside, these guys have serious quality control issues. Far too many of their directory-specific scripts are broken. 404's were numerous.

Is this a useful tool today? Hmmm... it's close. It would be useful if you could keep track of which directories work and which don't and submit site after site automatically to just the directories that do work.

Will it be a useful tool tomorrow? Definitely -- if the development team keeps up the good work.

I have tried submit express. 75,000 + submissions for 30 bucks or so! I submitted a company site as a trial (like Will). They send a report to you, which contains around 50 odd websites that they confirm submissions to. The rest is ....... vague!

You can trial these services, but like most of the others I am also of the opinion that you should do it yourself.

Lets face it, unless you do it yourself you don't know if it gets done.

Like Will I also have thought of an auto-submitter. There are a handful of free directory scripts out there, all with the same format of submission, so if you had a handful of conditions in the programming code you could cover most of the directory submits in this format.

The ones that were unique in their submitting format would have to have work around code for... that's not the makor problem though.

The problem is as Will suggested. ROI. What do you get for creating one of these. Nada. How much work does it present? truckloads.

The quality control issue would be perpetual. It would run alongside the auto-submitter for its lifespan, there would always be problems associated with doing it that way. Directories changing their submission forms, the pages their submissions are on, and the format of their submissions would pop up those 404 errors all over the place.

It's a nice idea, you could knock over a core section of directories in zero time. If someone was willing to make it their baby, and nurture it through those troubled times, it'd be a top SEO resource, no doubt about it.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I haven't used any of these autosubmitters yet. Will try them on my crappy sites. ( useless domain parking pages )

Another alternative is to use a manual submission service like Tomas's subSEO. For $99, they will submit you to "150+ free SEO friendly non-reciprocal directories".

I am having them do one of my new-ish sites right now. It's taking longer than I expected, but I do see a steady stream of acceptance notices appear in my Inbox.

Will, there's a member here who does it (manual submissions to 100 odd directories) for $30 or so. I have a link to his site on my home computer. I can PM you the link by tomorrow if you want me to.

FYI, the site in my initial post in not fully automatic. Its somewhat semi automatic and will do content filling by itself.

I did submit my site on about 169 directories and among them 20-40 were 404. From the rest 120 submitted directories I got acceptance from 40 yesterday itself.

The ONLY autosubmit tool that I would be happy to use is David from Trellian's autosubmission tool called submit wolf. I know that they keep track of directories that do NOT accept autosubmissions, and give you a list of those to manually submit to.
