I did outsource my social bookmaking for one of my website and they most probably used automation software to do it. It was about month ago and I am still waiting for links to show up.

I did some automated directory submissions as well not long ago, it was over 250 directories and so far only 5 links are showing. I do understand that most of the directories have really long waiting list so there might be some more links to come.

The best results I have had with mass article directories submissions that gave me over three hundred backlinks in two weeks time plus some click trough traffic as well. I do not expect any click from regular directories.

I have had the best results with a combination of manual and automated submission to article directories.

You should always be careful with "automatic submission" products or services.

    1. A lot of them simply do not work as they are suppose to.
    2. If you are acquiring an abnormal amount of backlinks to quickly it may appear you are doing something improper to the search engines; thus doing more harm than good.

If you want to submit articles to article directories on regular bases I would recommend Content Crooner Or Distribute Your Articles. If you only have one or two articles that you would like to submit than Isnare is a good option for that as you can pay per article and do not have to take out monthly or quarterly subscriptions.

If you're in the beginning stages of your link building definitely do not use this software unless you can put a limit on the amount of submissions it makes. For an established site, the ratio should be low enough that this might actually work, but I've never tried it and probably never will.

To get a whole bunch of social bookmarks to your pages from a whole bunch of different accounts it's really easy... you just have to write an original, linkable, likeable piece of content, and if you're stuck for ideas just check out what everyone else is bookmarking in your niche from delicious.com

automated submission may work for a short period of time until the word is spread. after that it will be useless.
