Automatic Censorship

Hey guys what's your opinion when it comes to implementing an automatic censorship tool that would turn lovely words like "shithead" or "fuckface" into ******* .

IMHO it would save time for the moderators , force a less hostile atmosphere and help some mebers avoid a ban . On the negative side a minority would complain about freedom of speech .

    What are your opinions ?

I would much rather to have a freedom of speech community. Enforcing too many rules can cause your members to get annoyed with you and can cause confusion.

I think its a good idea to have the censorship. You never know if some young person is reading it.

I think its possible in most applications with the censorship for the user to able to enable/disable. If its not an option then it should be in my opinion.

That way they can control if they wish to read these censored words.

Thats how it is on my forum anyway.

I like the idea of letting forum members express themselves, I only use it for racially offensive terms.

What your looking for should be built in on phpBB and other forum softwares.
