Hi, I have built a database driven bespoke site which uses bespoke content but I am looking at a way of creating automated meta (keywords & description) from the content. For the description I currently take the first 75 chars from the start of the content. Keywords I currently just use the title (product name) and seperate with commas. Is this a good idea? Any better ideas? Thanks
The best way: store metadata - keywords and description in database per page. Of course, you should pre-fill, and the way you described is good. But implement ability to edit metadaba when editing page info - content, title etc. This solution is easy to implement, no additional work for editor needed, but it is still flexible for SEO (you can add custom metadata, if you want). Please, add to reputation if you like my advise
Well thats not automated is it? I know I can add the data in the db and pull it out, but I was thinking of a good way to manipulate the content and title to create a SEO friendly description\keywords. Why re-invent the wheel?
I just advice you to leave manual tunnel About automated: keywords are good, but for description I would try to get several sentences from content that contains keywords, not just copy several first one.
