Hi, I'm new to creating blogs, and have learned a lot from reading threads on this board. I also learned a bit about the "automatic blog creation". Is this always done by RSS? Are there any good free scripts/ open source scripts? When people who offer services on creating automated blogs, and claim they can create it with any niché, how does that actually work? I'm a 3d artist, and want to create a blog about it, without manually updating every time. I would appreciate any info that could give me some knowledge so I can start it. Thanks a lot, and happy Easter to all! Dan
what do you think you will accomplish with an automated spam blog? absolutely nothing. you get your ass banned from google for using duplicate content. and you're frustrating a lot of honest bloggers by stealing parts of their posts.
I'm not trying to steal anybody's work. However some really cool sites do have rss feeds, and I would love to link to their articles. Is that being punished by google? Otherwise I will ofcourse do it manually, but that would still be snippets and then links. Thanks for your reply DutchWM.
Well i have some of my sites automated and i can say this is not punished by Google at all. In fact i have some of these sites well ranked in G. Yes you should add a link in the site to the site you are getting the feeds from ( is more ethical ). My advice: periodically add some original content, this will increase the probabilty to stay in the first SERP. Thanks.
Google does not like sites that use this and it says so in terms for blogger and some other parts of google terms.
Is it difficult to set up. or do I need a special tool to give my blog posting rss feeds. Is that the only way to do it? Thanks for the tip masterB!
Well i can recommend you wp-o-matic, which is a plugin for wordpress. Please just PM me if you need help to properly optimize an automated site. I am a good SEO and web designer Thanks.
If you use an automated script to take the first paragraph or so from other blogger's, then you're going to upset the other writers in your niche, whether or not there's a link back to them. You'd be much, much better off manually writing something like "So and so (link) wrote and interesting post the other day. Here is a quote and here is what I thought," instead of an automated feed that says "So and so Wrote a post, here it is, and there's a link to the original at the end."
Hmm, ferox, if you are feeding from another site and you put a link to that site... i think is not an unethical procedure. That`s why the original writer has his content in a rss. Nice thread !
masterB@ Thanks a lot for your tip, it looks very interesting. Please tell a bit more about your experience with automated blogs Thanks for all the great comments, this is a very interesting subject indeed.
Thanks to you blogsabout. Yes i have some experience with building and mainting automated blogs with wordpress. People often thinks that an autopilot blog will not make money... i disagree with those Well if you have any question just PM. Thanks.
Writers have RSS so that interested readers can easily keep up to date. Not so that auto-blogs or splogs can copy content without permission and then drop a link at the end.
Hello again Ferox, i repeat, i think this is not unethical, as i link to them. All the automated blogs i made are made like this. In fact bloggers will thank you to send them traffic. Thanks.
I really find it hard to believe that a splog would sent traffic to the original blog. After all, the article of interest is already posted in it's entirity right there. If you don't think it's unethical, do you have contact details posted on the site so that the bloggers that DO take offence at their copied content (and all those duplicate content issues) can ask you to remove their work? I've yet to find a single splog that does.
Of all the automated blogs i made, i just received one email from the contact form of the site, that was upset with this. thanks.
