I wouldn't say $XXXX. Far from it... We have over 100 auto related domain names. .orgs are not attractive. I would say low XXX. If you don't believe me try to sell it for XXXX. =)
I do agree that .org is not the ideal TLD in this case, since an auto dealership is a commercial activity whereas .org domains tend to be associated with websites of the non-profit variety. However, it still has value. You can safely expect that when it DOES sell to an end user, it will at least sell for a few hundred. It could go for more, but it's unwise to plan on the best-case scenario. You will also have to consider how long you are prepared to wait for that those hundred dollar bills minus a commission. If you get bored waiting, there will probably be wholesale domain buyers like myself who can take it off your hands for a small price. Also note that this domain won't be anybody's first choice. They'll be looking for some sort of .com. So you'll have to be much much much more active trying to sell it if you're hoping for high $xxx or even $xxxx. If you want to sit back and wait, your chances of selling this domain go way down. And that's the main reason why a domain wholesaler won't pay a premium price. Selling this domain will involve risks, patience, and work.
Thanks for your feedback. However, I humbly disagree with your statements that .org is not a good extension for the term Auto Dealers. I think the .org works good with Auto Dealers. In fact: NADA.org is the website for National Auto Dealers Association FLADA.org is the website for the Florida Auto Dealers Association CNCDA.org is the website for the California New Car Dealers Association RochesterAutoDealers.org is the website for Rochester Auto Dealership Association This is just a small sample of Auto Dealers Associations using .org. Search "Auto Dealers Associations" and you will see the long list of Auto Dealers Associations using .org.
You've partially convinced me. I might take a risk on this one myself -- depending on your price, of course. Feel free to PM me if you're willing to sell wholesale or pay a generous commission to a broker.
I think it depends on what someone wants to do with the domain. If they are making an association, than obviously .org would work. But anything else related to auto dealers that isn't related to organizations/associations will not easily attract buyers.
