Ok, I understand the draw. :O a blog that runs itself. Well, I was interested. I was giong to make a WP-MU install on a spare domain, and make a few autos. However, I don't get why it appeals, because from what I can see, it only gets a feed summary, 1) , and 2) it doesn't rewrite it (Wp-o-matic), so what do i do? I'd be interested in any advice, either in how to do it, or why it's so good? x) Thanks!
I don't know why people like to use it either. I have set it up on a few domains, and the traffic I get to those sites is minimal.
They are pure crap. I have about forty ping backs a day coping my stuff. Of that about 30 have been suspended from their host before I get a chance to check. Google hates them, most honest hosting providers hate them, the original owner of the writing gets annoyed with them, and most visitors never return. However, there are claims of making money off them, I do not see how but that is the big draw for people doing them. The only ones I think who make money are the ones who are selling these to suckers who think they can get rich. I would rather make a blog with original articles and make a little money than steal content from elsewhere.
Google does penalize you for duplicate content. The reason that these sites exist in the first place is because people want to make money w.o. any effort.
Hm. I'm using a Google-closed autoblog as an aggregator for all my blogs, to fill out my latest posts and stuff on other sites, if I was to open *that* to Google, would they peanalise me, do you think? It was never aimed to get high in Google, so keeping it SE closed isn't a problem, I'd just appreciate your thoughts http://planet.gspearce.com Idea stolen from Wordpress.org
You are absolutely correct. In my opinion autoblogs suck and the only people who use them are those who are trying (without success) to make an easy dollar without actually doing anything for it.
Ok, well that well and truly deterred me from using them I'm going to keep one as an aggregator, though
I dont like the thought of anything like that, long term its pointless, short term its probably not as good as they expect, duplicate content, annoying for visitors to stumble upon the same content as read somewhere else, taking away the whole idea of blogging and connecting with people to express yourself or share ideas and interests. Baaad
good! Install A Google sitemap, write your own original content consistently, use keyword phrases in your blog titles and a couple of times in your posts, and watch how quickly your blog climbs to the top 10 in the search engines for your particular niche. good luck
Your niche can be 'yourself'. then you'll have that niche all to yourself! Or if you plan to monetise, use a tag like 'lifestyle', there seem to be a lot of oppertunities in that niche.
