Im looking for a website or a program that will automaticly register a domain name the second its registration renewal date over runs.

Anyone know of any such site? or should i set one up myself maybe?

You'll need to investigate the expiry process more.

Basically, a domain is NOT available when its registration date overruns.

It goes into a 30 day redemption period, then a 5 day delete period, and then it 'drops'.

pool.com,snapnames.com,enom.com among others already provide this service to get the domain name when it drops. Because they have significant resources invested in this as well as deals with the registrars, if a domain name is backordered on these services you don't have a chance of getting it. If you want to set up a competing service, sure... but you'd want to have lots of money (read: millions) to make a better system and to entice registrars.

pool.com seem to offer an email alert service, when the domain you want is about to delete.

Is this a better option than paying a fee to backorder?

Yes, but only if the domain you want is unlikely to be wanted by anyone else. Otherwise you sign up for the free email, someone else places a backorder, and you get a notification but you lose the domain.

It boils down to how much you want the domain. If you really really want it, then it must be important to you (and likely desirable to others), so shell out for the backorder.

Dude.. To funny a post ;)

Maybe you should do as some people already sugested and read up on the expiry process and the domain after market in general..

If you are interested in snatching up old domains start out by reading this article by Mike Davidson.. Some of the info is already outdated but it should give you some info that you obviously need..
