Any websites that use it effectively? I want to keep the auto-start music on my site, but not if its going to repel visitors...
There was quite a discussion on this a week or two ago on another forum. Out of the 30+ people that got into the conversation, "0" would frequent a page with auto-start music, or anything else for that matter! Pete
Never have music! It scares your visitor away!!! You'll lose so much traffic, and nearly 60% of your sales.
Optional music is good. Auto-starting it is bad, because what if I don't like that music? Back Button!
Exactly as zacdavis said. If you simply must have music on your site, have it be *optional* and never start without the viewer clicking a play button. I can't tell you how many sites I've immediately left due to music - if I wanted that, I'd waste time browsing myspace.
