Is there a way to stop the auto complete field on city, state and area code. Some of our customers zip codes have more than one city associated with it so in turn we get email asking why their city is incorrect when they entered the correct info in their signup. Thanks
Yes I can give you two examples: Affton MO 63123 GreenPark MO 63123 Sappington MO 63128 Sunset Hills MO 63128 Mehlville MO 63128 Some of the above can also be listed as St.Louis MO
In fact Sappington MO can have the following zip codes: Sappington, MO: 63126, 63127, 63128 and Sunset Hills Mo can also be 63127
Hmmm... do you have an example of a Green Park address within 63123? Every address that I can find that shows Green Park being within 63123, the US Postal Service tags it as incorrect, and actually within Affton.
Greenpark was probably a bad example because it is newly incorporated. But if you check out this link http://www.zipcodeworld.com/lookup.asp?zipcode=63127 you will see that 63127 is acutally listed for both Sunset Hills MO, and Sappington MO. I checked the USPS website and it states to use St.Louis instead of Sunset Hills but for the zip 63128 it lists both Sappington and St.Louis as acceptable. So that is where my problem lies. I would just like to know if it is possible to turn that auto complete field off so I quit getting angry emails from people wanting to know why I changed their city.
No, you probably would need to just ignore that it's auto-entered and set the city manually. As far as angry customers calling, that seems strange because all their utility bills and anything else "official" is going to come to the "real" city (the one listed by the US Postal Service). Technically, you could list any city you want on a letter, and it will still get there. You could put San Diego for 63127 and it will still get to 63127, it will just take longer because a postal employee needs to manually correct it.
