auto-blog content not doing much...ideas?

I have had an auto-blog for over 3 months now with 1000's of posts...
and the auto blog posts daily...just went to google to see how
many indexed pages I have...so far only 10 pages are showing
in google. I was showing 10 pages in google within just weeks
    after setting up the blog...

    What is going on...?

I also noticed the PR0 is now PR2 ... what point is
PR if the content is not getting indexed...

    Hi,

One thing you could try is to social bookmark your post each time there is a new one. OnlyWire is a great service for this. By bookmarking your posts, you'll have a very high chance of being indexed by the search engines.

That really does not help on why the current posts are not really being indexed.

I have seen auto-blog sites, and was very impressed by how many pages they had
indexed, this is why I got the autoblog to help boost things along...at this point
it is crawling like a turtle...

I'm fairly new to all of this, and by fairly new to do mean an Internet webmaster fetus. That said, I have a question.

What exactly is auto-blogging? Is it when posts are extracted from other sites and re-published onto yours? If that's the case, isn't that stealing and also against Google's TOS?

Personally, I started my blog for fun and don't give a damn whether or not I ever make money from it, but I do have a certain sense of self respect and pride when it comes to what I post on it. I have noticed a lot of blogs out there with articles from other sites and I think this has made it very difficult for honest bloggers to keep people from immediately pressing the "back" button when realizing they've stumbled on a blog.

My site is not much older than yours, and probably has much fewer entries (31 to be exact), but 29 of them have been indexed by Google. Slowly (but much faster than I had originally anticipated), my traffic has been increasing. I am assuming this is because I write my own stuff.

One thing I do not understand, however, is why my PR is still 0. Oh well.

    P.

I guess it depends on what you are scraping off the internet...If I take your post, and put it on another site..is your post copyrighted?
I have yet to hear of any problems with my auto-blog, and I have, then I would kindly respect them, and remove what is in question,
which I have not yet received any emails requesting to remove anything.

Besides I am not here to discuss the morals of auto blogging...there are 1000's of auto blogs out there, and
the few that I have been too seemed to be doing very well as far as indexing is concerned.

Apparently someone ( or something ) is linking to your site. Try more backlinks. An autoblog needs regular SEO just like any other site. If you are using Wordpress, there is a plugin for that.

You need to generate links to your posts, that will get them indexed.

Have you thought about writing your own articles instead of recycling articles thousands of people are already using?

A very good idea. Mix up your own articles with the "thousands" and you will do just a bit better.

Google tries to penalize scrapers: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66361

Maybe someone has reported your site as a scraping site or maybe Google's algorithms have just picked it up.

That link from the search engine was last updated in 2009. I know people who are not penalized. In fact here is a guy/girl selling their golf autoblog here at DP. They claim to have thousands of pages indexed. LINK

So you think that Google might have changed their policy to allow scraped sites since 2009?

I'm sure there are scraped sites doing well. And I'm sure there are just as many scraped sites who are penalized.

I ask those who have their own autoblogs. Unless they are just liars, they are doing well with their autoblogs in the search engines. Certain people on this board try to convince others that autoblogs are useless, because autoblogs hurt their own article businesses.

If a writer finds out that they do not have to write as much and still get a profit... it is a liberating experience. :)

Sure. I never said that I'm against Autoblogging....I don't do it (yet ;)), but I figure if someone can turn a profit doing it go for it!

But autoblogging must be considered risky as it is quite clear that Google does not like it...

yeah! auto-blog can not keep good ideas !it looks like so superfacial and unreadable, althought the blog contents are colorful.. if you just want to enjoy yourself instead of keeping writing or leaving information you can use the auto-blog!

I never used any auto-blog software because I prefer to post entry manually. It is much more enjoy that way.

But there is no right or wrong. But if your page doesn't index in Google, I think you should bookmark every post.

    Just my 2 cents. :)

It is nice to know about the auto-content problem. I agree with Zhoom that maybe Google's algorithms have just picked it up. I am using auto-content too but I always update my blog manually for mix up my my auto-content with genuine content as well.

You just need to get some more links into your site. I have a few autoblog sites and the ones with only a couple of links struggle to keep all their pages in the index as there isn't many bots. More links = more bots = more pages indexed

This is a good idea. Even though it defeats the idea of a fully automated solution, it helps in the end. Robots do not always choose the best backlinks. :)
