Authority web site!

I 've searched for "directory list" and I was expecting directorycritic to be listed on the apex - not even close! Directorycritic is an authority web site, so what's so special about this much coveted authority status?

    Definetely is...
However I have a problem with contacting admin and I know I'm not the first one. Paid for some ads and have no info from them. Also my ad is not activated yet. Will wait some time, then we'll see...

    "ht" is a typo...

    from this statement:

    An English translation:

You guys can't read or spell. ;)

"Authority status" is a made up thing, a figment of many imaginations, it doesn't exist.

If you think it does, then who awards "authority status", do all search engines recognise it ?

Do academics in various institutions recognise it

Basically, 2 guys set up a website, spend untold hours writing up stuff, over a period of time, they acquire a reputation amongst their peer group, this is good, but probably as far as it goes, most of the time,

Of course , if the business develops into something like reuters, then it would be established, but not necessarily authoritative on anything

A local government site, whether 1 hour, 10 days, 10 years old is authoritative about your local taxes

The Home office site in the UK is authoritative about Uk law,,

The White house site is authoritative about the current administrations policy,,

    etc , etc

"Authority status" is not a made up term. Take a look at this link and notice what google displays on the top besides a regular search result - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=directorycritic&btnG=Search

Now, everybody else is just a little unsure of what they are talking about. if the site is an authority, it does not mean it will rank for all keywords related to "directory".

What am I supposed to see ?

I see simply a google search for specific domain name without its extension

What are you refering to ?

"Authority status" is simply something successful site owners assign to themselves after they've topped the SERPs for a while,

Infact they mention it most often when the daily google update are occassionally less than favourable

guys, there are a gadzillion other webmasters out there who also wanna be no 1, who also want to call themself " authority"

The results show directorycritit.com and a list down of its subcategories... When the engine displays the subcategories like this... means it's considered an "authority site".

Really, perhaps you can tell me where Google has indicated that this is the case,

    In a blog perhaps?

If this is confirmed by you, well, I'll have a new goal to aim for then :)

You are supposed to see this http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/6826/dsgdfgfgfgts9.jpg

I am sorry but you clearly dont know wtf you are talking about, so please calm down. For your infomartion Google labels those sites "authority", and not the site owner.

Under the first search result, the part that has links to Free, New, Article and Business directory lists. That part shows that its an authority site.
