Many of you know, I have a list of authority directories on my premium directory blog. Due to recent update of Google list- I had to update my list too. Please visit and find it HERE
And still some are penalized? Are those trusted by google republicans and penalized by google democrats? Your 2 arguments about authority status never mentioned sitelinks. Nobody questions there are authority sites but sitelinks are just a representation of search results. Did you ever question why those sitelinks disappear when someone looks for a certain keyword, does that mean the site lost his authority status and then recover it for another keyword. cnn cnn.com, result number 1 with sitelinks breaking news cnn.com result number 1 without sitelinks. Did they lose their status? If cnn is not the number 1 in your dc you can play with other examples.
Nice list John. Perhaps live links may be better. Lets not turn this into another question as to what is authority and wahts not. Perhaps you could include the directory script websites in the directory resources section John
Did you check my 2 lists carefully? There were some which I didn't list on my second list. Besides, sitelinks have always been related to Search Terms (which means - that particular site has the ultimate value for that particular term). I clearly mentioned on my post that -many webmasters don't buy my theory. But everybody has his/her opinion. I respect what you think - and I expect the same. Nobody can't prove it sites with sitelinks are not authority --so is same with the opposite arguments. I hope you read those two referencing thread from webmasterworld where it was GoogleGuy (ala Matt Cutts who first used the term but never ever elaborated). With Google all you can do is assumptions/permutations. Thanks Mikey. Being unique scripts, all script sites will be authority on their domain --there is no question. So I thought --I should escape it. Maybe, I'll do it when I write a post on all directory scripts. ow of has not become authority -- phplinkBID --but trust me--give it few more months --and it wil be automatic. So far only one script that I kn
Aren't you keeping up to date with the fact that this so called status is nothing more than how they lay out their sites. There's nothing 'authoritative' about them at all. Although the resources ones like vilesilencer could be classed as one.
You mean you removed the ones that prove that the theory of sitelinks=authority is not a solid one? so is same with the opposite arguments. (your own words). I can't see GoogleGuy in those two threads. Still of course there are authority sites, but I don't think sitelinks=authority. my 2 cents.
Yes Jamie Actually, I do always keep up to date with these kind of information. About layout of certain sites and its relation to site-links -- How is my own directory which is 17 months old (not BIR - but another one) --that runs on phpLD different from so many of them running on same script? Quite interesting field of study - isn't? And that mystery makes me to waste my time on going deeper than most people do. True, romow is a high quality directory cum portal --with so much unique contents on its blogs. But if you check here -- you will find that the 8 sitelinks generated for it are not those high quality blogs, but categories of its main site (i.e. - directory) which has same URL structure like mine. So I don't think its only URL structure that matters to achieve sitelinks. More goes into it. Yes- you are "on the dot" there. Just for the sake of it -- here are some posts on WMW -- - This page -- post by doc_z referring to a post made by GoogleGuy. That particular page contains whole lot of information on sitelinks with reference to many discussions on it.
Nice list, btw mygreencorner has been added twice - with 'www' & without 'www'. maxlinks is a nice example of how to violate google's tos and escape from penalization. The directory has 25 sitewides & 5 footer links, oh, yes, all with dofollow. And how they placed the 'viagra' anchor text just after sitemap without any space. At first I thought it's viagra's sitemap I am not against selling sitewides & footer links. But when I see quality directories like aviva, alive, ewebpages, gii, dump etc are penalized for nothing (Yah, they hadn't sold any sitewides - but still they are penalized for various shit reasons), i just cant control myself. So its amazing how they escaped from google's penalization. Is there anything else, I mean any undertable agreement? Sorry for being off-topic. Anyways thanks for the list john, nice job.
Thanks for noticing the mistake. I have corrected it. Besides - I have updated the list with more directories-- mostly shopping directories. I'll keep updating the list frequently. About maxlinks -- I have nothing to say as only Google can say wtf is going on in their brains.
Thank you guys. I am always look - out for quality resources myself. By the way - if you know or come accross an authority directory that is not on my list - please do let me know through my blog or here by PM. It will enhance the resource.
