Authority Directoy and sitelinks aren't two terms that go together. Once upon a time there were very few sites that had sitelinks hence webmasters termed them Authority Sites.

And it was right to terms them authority sites as they were sites that got traffic, had immense popularity, were important websites.

Today mfa, crap, useless websites also get traffic. So probably its time you change you definition of Authority Sites.

Siteslinks are links shown in search which google feels that maybe important for a surfer coz those links get more traffic, have more backlinks, maybe searched more or popular.

Hence, sites having sitelinks are no way authority, its only a way found by webmaster to boost their ego even further. :)

You can see my blogroll for further information. :)

Isn't it convenient that now so many people have worked out how to get these site-links which mean absolute nothing and never have are now devalued as a result.

The truth is that sitelinks have NEVER been given because a site was popular or because they were important sites, that was just a con by the few directories that had them and uses as a selling point because there were people who never knew better.

Warez sites get awarded sitelinks too, and i dont think google intends to deliberately help a website for serving up warez so they are not quite as special as hoped.

Fortunately its not something that ive seen many trying to promote on the strength of having sitelinks.

for the idiot who just gave me red with the 'kid like' comment 'dude shut up', NO I won't shut up, what I posted was FACT. Deal with it.

@Hyper, I jumped on you as the one who threw the red due to the number of points it was worth, I might have been wrong and gave you green anyway. If it wasn't you I apologize, if it was I don't.

I consider an "Authority Directory" a directory that gives me traffic. Site links don't really mean anything for the directory name or domain. What you want is a directory that is listed high in the SERPs for keywords that your site doesn't rank for...yet. I've found that niche directories usually rank better for "good" keywords than the general directories do.
