Here are a couple points from the story: "Residents of Australia's biggest city, Sydney, have been urged to pack a survival kit to prepare for a terrorist attack or a natural disaster." "A member of the Greens in Sydney said the campaign was a conspiracy by the federal government to whip up fear ahead of national elections due in the next few months." "The scheme has drawn scorn from some Australian newspapers." Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6902143.stm
running shoes, baseball cap, and toilet paper huh? sounds like they expect a mass case of the runs on gay pride day
It's not just terrorists we need to prepare our "Go-Bags" for... Nice way to get 2 election issues into the same soundbite.
Will you be jumping out of the pant if govt asks to Indians to prepare survival kits for terrorist attacks or natural disaster? Or you are saying that there is no need of precaution? Fuck those govt official for putting those warnings in Bus/Trains saying - Look under your seat for bombs before sitting. everytime I looked, I found nothing (Except for once when I found 50 bucks...)
I am a bit surprised to see a "fear tactic" like this being used by the Australian government but can you blame them after watching how effectively it has worked for the US government, especially during the last presidential elections. It seems the Aussies are a bit more savvy when it comes to propaganda than American's however, as the government was called out on it.
