Australia SEO Question

    Hi,

I'm building a website that targets australia. If I want to be ranked on Yahoo/Google, etc when the user clicks "show pages from australia only", how do I do that?

How does the SE determine where a site is from? I know that it is NOT the extension, as most of the results are .com's not .com.au's.

I'm assuming that they go by the IP address of the webhost, meaning that I need to host my website with an Aussie host. Is this correct?

    Thanks,
    Adam

For Google, the main factors are either a .com.au domain OR hosting in Australia.

    Hi,

.com.au or hosting in Australia. Either seems to work for the sites I run.
