Every time Google has done this recently a bunch of sites have started to climb, while a bunch of other sites start to tank.

Then they do a refresh, and a bunch of those sites that had been climbing start to tank, and the tankers start to climb.

    It's giving me a headache! :)

Glad to hear someone is doing well...

Nowhere to be found for a two keyword phrase that seemed to be easy pickings. (Sandboxed, perhaps.) When using quotes on it, I find links to the site outranking it (PR 0, at that), and when I find the site, it is buried on page 3 surrounded by the v2 Billions of spam pages... quoting my url... redirecting to an adult porn search site or topsearchten.com...

I can handle the dump, if it weren't for all the spam showing up.

*throws hands up in the air in disgust* that's it, I quit, good night everybody!

It's hard enough to get good results with Google WITHOUT them throwing away all my (and everyone else here) hard work in one fell swoop! It's like I'm putting in a month's worth of effort into only getting good SERPs for a couple of days... not worth it.

I'm going to delete all my Google entries in the DP Keyword Tracker because it's just not worth my time to track something meaningless.

Don't give up sketch! Keep at it ... the other engines will pick you up. Google is going no where fast - expect a huge Google backlash from webmasters in the near future.

    Keep your head up!

I second the motion about not giving up. My site has been hard hit several times over the years by the big G. It always comes back, just sometimes it's faster than others, but while it's "gone" it does hurt, that's no lie.

I don't have any secret other than persistant work creating content, optimizing that content and getting relevant links. My site doesn't spam and it doesn't try to be something it's not. In the end, that's what G is looking for.

I didn't mean quitting SEO or other engines, just Google. I get decent ranks in Yahoo (no top 10s but good enough) and fantastic MSN ranks... but Google's been keeping me out of even top 100s. Last week I had gotten ranked 84 for a term and today I'm gone completely.

My Google index count has plummeted from over 500 pages in June to 80 pages last week to 23 today. It seems no matter what I do I can't make good. So that's why I'm quitting my efforts on Google and concentrating elsewhere.

Exactly what I am doing - anything coming from Google is a bonus - not the life blood for me anymore.

I posted the other day (got a rep because I posted in the wrong forum) about my site getting hits like before June 27th and I am hoping that nothing will happen in the near future, nothing bad anyway!
During these 2 months I have removed pages and links that might be seen as bad, duplicate content, checked my meta tags and changed some to be more "on-the-spot" and done everything I can think of. I do not know if anything of this has helped or not, or it is just because of a change they just implemented which made other site go bad.....
I am not sure about this at all, but it seems that Google are targeting certain areas, certain keywords and that they might use all spam reports to find out what to change. I have over time, but not anymore, reported spam sites since they just scraped content from my sites and, a long time ago, I posted about that. I made a report about several sites and the only thing I could see was that MY site disappeared. I know when I posted that people said "You're dreaming...." and maybe it was just a coincident.Anyway, I think they are doing their updates by targetingpopular spam areas.

I would disagree with that as my loan and insurance guides are doing better than ever touch wood, there is no logic in this confusion mike, as you know my mobile phones have been the targetted ones, and who knows why, there like all other phone sites.

keep waiting mike all im doing

Sketch hang in there and yes dont waste time concentrating on Google as they have problems for now.

I have two sites that was wiped off the Google map and within the past two days jumped up to #13-#25 and I didnt make much changes on the sites. I'm not celebrating just yet as they will probably drop again until Google sorts the mess out.

My fitness sites got punished in the last change in july ( problery for over agressive promotion ) and 1 site was pushed out in the 100s now it back in the top 10 again. google is watching us very carefully and is very sensitive to promotional activity keep all promotion natural or you will punished . thats my guess anyway

That is EXACTLY what I found out, I lost my google standing a few days after I used StumbleUpon to promote my sites........... Couldn't StumbleUpon be thought of as a spam tool etc by Google ?

Yes it is back again. Ive noticed it for the few days. A search for a Broomall Dentists (a suburb of Philly), now comes back with site ranking #16 (I use to be #1). Here's the kicker.....it returns my Pediatric Dentist page and not my Broomall Dentists page. Yeah you can tell "Big Daddy" that he owes child support......

It seems like G is changing alot. Hopefully they will get rid of junk that fills the results. This update seems like to take some more time. Previous updates weren't that long, maybe they really try to improve the serp's.
