I have a client who wants to auction some products - no more than 80 auctions at any one time (ie the site won't have other sellers). We need all the standard ebay-type features inc. email alerts, watchlists, auction countdown, register to bid, list current auctions with status (reserve, highest bid, open, closed), individual product pages with pic, desc, other data etc etc. Anyone got any suggestions - perhaps an open source core we can customize to our specific needs? Personal preference would be php/mySQL and ideally templated using modern design standards (no tables). Asking too much?
I would recommand Joomla CMS (Open source and Free) and Auction Factory (Open Source but commercial). There are a lot of templates for joomla and Auction Factory has it's own templates so you could customize the looks. Of course you get warranty and support ...
