Hello fellow DP members! This is for anyone out there who wants to be successful. Urgency is one of the most common traits you will find in highly successful, productive, and profitable people. Our minds can be very timid, it creates excuses and loves laziness. Excuses and laziness are success killers. We need to have urgency and take action if we ever want to succeed! Urgency definition. Dictionary defintion: the quality or state of beingurgent; need for action, haste, etc.; stress or pressure; as of necessity My definition: The quality of being able to make decisions and take action in a quick and appropriate manner. The problem. Why do we need Urgency? Because if we do not act and act fast we lose our passion, we generate excuses, we put up walls between us and our goals, and we create less of a chance for success. If we lose our passion for something then we lose our drive and we lose the fire in us that pushes us to become great. If we generate excuses then it trains our minds to create more excuses. Excuses cause delay of accomplishment, fear of failure, they make us feel like our goals are too far to reach after a while, and 99.9% of excuses are not even reasonable! We must strive with optimistic minds towards success, while maintaining a real and reasonable outlook on the process and circumstances. The longer we wait to decide on something the more opportunity we have for walls to come up and tell us we cannot do something. The longer we wait the more opportunity there is for someone else to take action before you and succeed. Be quick. And just a quick reminder, failed attempts are not the same things as failure, so never fear the attempt itself. Do not let fear hold you back from taking action. The only times you can every truly fail is if you give up or refuse to try at all!!!! All of these reasons lead to us having a lesser chance at success. Now I am not saying that you need to go about the way you make decisions irresponsibly. Please, before you ever make a decision look over all of the pro’s and con’s throughly. Make sure you see the whole puzzle, or at least as much as possible. But find all of the information you need quick. Think quick. Take action quick. How do I “get†urgency? There are several ways to build up a sense of urgency. I would like to share three ways I read in an article a while back. 1. Set a challenging deadline for your goals. 2. Set a minimum time to work on something you have planned and FOLLOW what you have planned. Stay on schedule and get it done in the time you said you would. 3. MAKE yourself accountable. Tell people close to you to hold you accountable. This is very helpful and sometimes a necessity. The bottom line is that if you want to succeed, you need urgency. Having urgency and taking quick action is sometimes a risk. But that is 100% okay. We cannot be afraid of risks. All spectacular money making stories you have heard came with risks. Take action and be successful. Do not be afraid of risks, just make sure they are calculated risks. Thank you for your valuable time. Do not let what you read be just words. Let it be a turning point in how you live life and make money!
You apply that by taking action and not just day dreaming all day. Make sure you follow through on sites and ideas you have. Be quick but smart to take or make a deal if the oppurtunity arises. Just some thoughts. It's more of a charecter trait to implment that creates good business.
I think this post is for life in general. If you want to succeed in life you need to have a survivor consciousness. Just see what Donald Trump has become, he was billions in debt and now he is one of the most successful real state in New York. Yes, excuses, laziness, and conformity are successful killers. Good,but maybe it's just one way to succeed.And it may be not suitable to every one.I think people with different personality will be different in attitude and action.Some guys still like to prepare well for the competition.They may wait for the best chance coming.Then they can succeed,too.Urgency is not always good.I think persistence is the most important thing.
Ok, I can see that. Never thought of it from that perspective. Anyone else have some insight on what they think about having a sense of urgency?
Calm logical and analytical thinking surely beats someone rushing into something. The Japanese can wait 200 years for a long-term goal for their company! I know this is not the same but you have to be cool and relaxed to make the right choices, thats what I think anyway!
Its funny Eben Paegan stated that the number one thing all business people have in common who make over 200 000 a year is their speed of implementing what they feel is right for their business.
