My site www.jobsforuscitizens.com has been running for the last few years listed in yahoo but I dont have any luck with Dmoz after submitting and waiting for more than 6 months;
It's been less than six months. And you submiited more than once to different categories. Stop submitting and stop worrying about DMOZ, it eventually will get reviewed. At which point someone might notice that you also have msysinc.com
We own many websites; can you tell me how come msysinc.com is anything to do with jobsforuscitizens.com. I am confused!
Ive waited for over a year and I dont know whats up and havent whined about it yet just as many of us havent. Your not anymore special then the rest of us so ya gotta wait just like the rest of us.. You know I heard there is life without DMOZ........ PGZ
Well I wonder how long does it take a site to be listed At Dmoz after an editorial review. When looking up stats of one of my sites I saw a Dmoz editor clicked my site twice. It has been about a week since then but my site has not been listed. Does it mean my site has been rejected or should I be patient as it may take some time Dmoz database to be updated? I know the patience is the key so sorry if my post is useless and wasted your time
Just because your stats showed that an editor visited your site doesn't mean that it was a review. There are a number of reasons why a visit could occur - (1) an editor made a quick visit to see if the site was listable, (2) an editor made a quick visit to see if the site might be in the correct category, (3) an editor made a quick visit to see if the site was working, (4) an editor made a quick visit because they saw the URL in a forum, (5) an editor was in the middle of a review but was interrupted, (6) something else. The length of time from a visit to listing can vary from minutes to years - depending on the purpose of the visit in the first place
yes...be patient.... and forget it...................... my site submitted more than a year.................
My first site took well over a year to get listed. In the end I contacted the directory editor directly and he listed it right away. He appologised saying he couldn't understand why it took so long. Though I'm not saying you should do this unless you site has been pending for a long time, doing it only a few months after submitting will probably just annoy them.
I am waiting for a listing nearly for two years now. There is no editor in my category only a few categories up. I don´t know if contacting an editor is such a good Idea. He/she will propably get hundrets of emails a month asking for a link review
One of my websites got listed in 1 week, you never know. I never expected that until I saw referral traffic coming form DMOZ page and the Google Directory page. 100% unexpected.
Not much to lol at if dastarbug tries that one and ends up with a permanent ban There are over 300 editors with rights to edit anywhere, plus those in the branch above where you submitted too. Any one of them could edit the category tomorrow or it might still be a long way off. Depending on what you say it could be a bad idea. There is a very good chance it will be completely ignored and very little chance it will result in anything happening at all. If emailing an editor produced a result everyone would do it so editors will not want to set any precedents. Highly unlikely - until recently I was an editor with a link at the top of a very popular branch and got maybe 2 or 3 such emails a year, always studiously ignored. You have already asked for a review by suggesting the site - that is all you need to do. Since DMOZ isn't a listing service there is no concept of any target timescales between submission and review. BTW I couldn't easily see the links from the title page to enter the site - not very clear. When I did work out which bits of text were the links I have to say I hadn't a clue what it was all about. But then I guess it wasn't intended for someone of my age and musical tastes - the point of that is that an editor who does understand its value may be a very rare commodity. So have you thought about becoming an editor yourself? BTW since the content is bilingual have you thought about submitting to the appropriate World/Deutsch category or applying to be an editor there too - I am guessing that they might also have a shortage of people able to judge the quality of the site.
