ATTN Directory Owners: Let's Revamp Directories

Discussion in 'Directories' started by Skinny, Jan 15, 2007.

Alright I think I started a thread like this a while back and while nothing much actually happened it was a good way of at least communicating.

Directories need to get revamped, but we need some ideas to create the next BIG directory.

Goals: to create a framework that allows for a reputable, reliable, directory website that is enjoyed by users and website owners.

    Any ideas.

Anything should work, some tools, games, IQ tests, links to free stuff. I think a section about hot new deals and then showing new contests etc. can work. Something that makes people revisit you.

might be better to just intergrate your best directory script with a cms and call it a day. I wish I could do that with phpld:confused:

Sure, make a site about anything that people like and integrate a directory into it.

Why do we need to create the next big directory? What problems do you have with the proliferation of small and medium sized ones?

Be specific about what you don't like about directories as they are, and we'll be getting somewhere.

    Okay well,

There are millions of directories out there and most are boring to the user.

I mean they are great for web owners but normal average users find them boring in my opinion.

Nice skin. That's kind of what I'm talking about.

Do you find that users will stay longer.
