    Hey everyone,

I do 80% of my online business through DP and it's been a big success for me.

I am interested in becoming a moderator. The reasons for that are both personal and professional:

    • I'm annoyed by posts made in wrong sections
    • I want to one-up my member status here with DP
    • I would like to improve my image as a premier DP businessman

I'd like to know if this is possible, and what the requirements would be for the job (productivity standards, benefits, requirements, etc). If an admin could get back to me, that'd be great.

    Best Regards,
    vip-ip.

Don’t think you can ask to be a mod, if the Admin wants you he will contact you.

    Thanks Brian

    lol.

Just get a premium membership if you want to improve your image, and if you are annoyed by posts made in the wrong sections, just report them.

    Problem solved.

    Just buy the premium membership.
And report all posts you think are wrongly categorized. Thanks for this funny thread:p

There is no salary as far as I know.. all voluntary. It looks like a very tough job. Hats off to all the mods;)

    1. It's voluntary, there is no salary (not sure why people subject themselves to this to be honest).

    2. Asking to be a mod is probably the surest way you won't be one. :)

Mods are selected by a very deliberate process. They give potential candidates a large bag of marbles. When you report a spammer, you throw away a marble. Make a great post, toss out another. PM the admin to explain how to save money on auto insurance, get rid of one more. This process continues... then when you've lost all your marbles, they make you a moderator.

I wasn't looking for a job being a mod, just looking to help a good forum. I don't feel like it's appropriate to have to pay for a premium membership to "hope" to become one "if you're lucky" - that's basically like a lottery. I don't give Red Cross a $50 donation for a pretty ribbon and a fancy certificate to hopefully win a chance to give blood one day. I wasn't seeking compensation at all, just wanted to save current mods time by moderating threads myself rather than reporting them to be looked at using someone else's time.

@digitalpoint, I didn't know that it's unprofessional to express interest in volunteering my time and effort to a cause that benefits a whole community. I'm sorry if I offended you. This thread can be closed now, but I do appreciate your time.

    Best Regards,
    vip-ip.

Agreed on the premium membership thing. Premium members have no greater chance of being a mod.

I didn't mean it like it sounded... it's not offensive to express interest, but unfortunately we are bombed with people wanting to become mods for personal reasons (ability to delete competitor threads, ability to give infractions to people they don't like, etc.) :)
