    Hi all,

Does anyone around here know where a good coder to code a site like phonedetective.com? I am not creating a site on the niche, but have a very good idea/niche to target with this type of 'teaser' search, but it's not phone related? Does anyone know how these sites work, and where I could get a coder like this?

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    Dim.

I actually looked into this a while back, and basically - it seems that the biggest obstacle is a list of numbers that tells you of the location and type of phone # that they have.

The front-end is basically just linking to a db which says that the area code 323 is in CA and the first part of the number is in a certain city. They completely ignore the last part

Ohhhhhh. I never thought of that. That makes sense. Sounds simple enough. Cool.

They don't search their reports for the numbers you type in.

    http://www.area-codes.com/

They use a service like the one on that site - where they look for the NPA numbers you type in.

So if you typed "323 658 8555" (I don't know if that's real or not), they will look for 323 which is in CA and 658 which is in LA. They will then find the type of number landline / mobile and then report back on that.

So the number doesn't have to be real & functioning - they just give you information back on the generic area.
