Exactly, what is Adsense if not paid links? Anyone fancy reporting Adsense for selling links?

I understand links for the purpose of seo, but do you, or anyone else really purchase a text link to get noticed (for traffic).??? I myself never click text links to other sites. If anything, I am clicking a banner that interest me. As for my sites, most traffic when advertising (other than adwords text links) comes from banners. Either way, for G to hurt those that sell text links when they can't determine if it's for the purpose of PR increase, or truly for advertising purposes, would do them no good.

What I find very interesting is that Google dont mind taking money for paid links in the form of adwords...

I totally agree with SundayBrew.. especially after you've linked to Matt Cutts in the Link Sales section and got his attention by sending traffic to his site.. :)

I agree. This is the "evilest" thing I've heard them do to date.

I would like to know how successful something like this could be though. I mean, how do you tell what was paid unless it was clearly marked?

Personally, I'll be replacing my "sponsored by" text with i86eduralgo.jpg so it'll take them longer to notice (unless someone reports me ;) )

If this is to be true....Then I guess TLA is ready to shut down?

What you fail to understand is Google doesn't care why you bought the links, just that paid links don't count towards your PR and rank in the SE's. Whether you bought them for clicks or PR is irrelevant to them, I'd imagine all of the big sites advertising links have been devalued long before now.

    Nop, not possible at all.

Google, very well understands that these paid links/e-commerce are the only thing fueling new content/sites these days, if it messes with it even a bit it will all blow up in its face.

Google is nothing without us the webmasters putting our own damn money into sites, where the hell will it utilize adsense/adwords if there are no one out there to make sites?

Since adsense pays next to shit to 70% of the people, this is the only thing webmasters rely on.

Well I know what you mean but...

You got to think that everyone running a website doesnt know how to add nofollows (what we are appartently supposed to do with every external link). Meaning there are millions of people out there running a blog that have no clue on this and will continue to always use normal links.

So theres no way Google can assume everyone that runs a website has the knowledge or the ability to properly tag their links in accordance with Googles super ideas.

I have to admit, this is a stupid move by Google. They are practically pushing traffic to alternative search engines by doing something like this.

Google has never and will never respect SEO's. It goes against everything they are trying to do with their search engine. Makes all those "white hat" people arguing about their morally correct link buying being better than blackhat sites look foolish. Google has always had bad things to say about selling links, only now they are publically calling for them to be turned in. A week ago if I posted Google hated your site that grew from buying links 100 people would argue with me, now those arguements just look foolish.

They obviously understand everyone isn't adding nofollow which is why they are building it into their algo.

They aren't pushing anyone anywhere. Nobody trying to find information from google gives a flying ****. The only people who care are webmasters who like the loophole of buying links instead of making sites that people find interesting enough to link to naturally. The only negative effect this will have for anyone at Google is emails from webmasters crying and lots of comments on Matts' blog.
