Attempts to avoid Sandbox

Anyone tried just going with hardcore relevant links, perhaps at a slow pace (probably necessary depending on your niche), and being able to avoid the sandbox?

I have just been wondering what kind of impact submitting sites to directories and such do in terms of the sandbox and if it has any effect at all.

I am sure people have done this, I am just curious of the results in regards to sandbox. Just links from other niche sites and that is it.

    A couple things:

    1. If you gather a ton of links it can either throw you in the sandbox faster or (in the case of getting relevant and high PR or edu and gov sites) it can help you reduce the sandbox time or skip it altogether
    2. If you really want to skip the sandbox, find an existing URL with existing backlinks and PR which appears to have been neglected. Offer to buy the URL for a reasonable price. Don't wait for it to expire, it will lose it's PR.

I've just started to promote a new travel site.

I'm building links very very slowly, adding a couple of pages of content every 3 days or so and trying to get quality links (hard seeing as they want PR in return) and throwing a very small amount of co-op weight at it.

Just seeing if this can reduce the time in it, if not I've lost nothing :)

Building linking continue will help you , if you get 1000 backlinks today and no back links in the next 2 months, will ruine you. :) Google it's more smart then you think!
