Attempting to keep to Strict while inserting phrase in code, advice?

Hello there. I am trying to stick to HTML Strict standards, but am also looking for a way to increase the number of keyword hits in my page. My boss typically uses the “name” tag, but this is a depreciated attribute, and is not a valid one for many pages. Is there any equivalent tag that could be used, so that I can please him, while still keeping to strict standards?

    CSS ID's, maybe?

Serve a similar function to the name attribute.

I was thinking about that, but wasn't sure if google would include them in their spider like they do name tags. If I go that rout, I'm going to need to re-build the page and re-name all of the ids, but it should help. Thanks.

And I just noticed a forum where this page would do better.... in SEO. I wasn't aware of it's existence when I posted this thread. Is there any way to get these moved without bringing down the wrath of a mod and getting an infraction?
