I just got an email that the computer i have ordered the other day might be two weeks late because they have run out of Athlons. Instead they can use Sempron and send it the next day. So which processor is quicker/more reliable? Sempron 3400+ 64Bit and 754pin or Athlon 3200+ 64Bit and 754pin Did anyone have any experience with these? Ta!
I have a 3200+ and its a beast. Take a look at this, its a pretty good review. http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/cpu/amd-sempron-3000-3400.html
I've been looking into this very same issue aswell, it appears as though the Sempron is the beefed down version of the Athlon, similar to the Celeron with Intel chips.
Semprons are to celerons as Athlons are to Pentiums. Simply said, Athlons will out-perform Semprons very easily and I highly recommend going for Athlon if that's all you can afford.
Sempron is also cheaper. So make sure if you get it they lower the price and not charge you for the price of an Athlon.
dcristo asked the same question yesterday (almost) which I answered here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=50003 (I cant be bothered typing it out again).
Sorted! Thanks a lot! I had a go at the for trying to flog me cheaper and slower Sempron so now im getting a free upgrade to Athlon 3400+
I overclocked my 3200+ to 3500+. You can probably push your to a nice level, I can probably too but I need more cooling.
that's what i want to say .... and now you got it.... Its good .... Almost all Hardware Shop Keeper's try to make fool
