Atheists know more about religion that so-called believers.

And to think, that false sense of security only cost you your dignity, brain and any respect anyone ever had for you... what a deal!

And still you bring up that dumb thing. Here you go.
Why Christians do not need to comply with Matthew 5:42 (when atheists demand money)
    1) You are reading the this verse wrong. If you read all of Matthew then you'd know
straight away that the verse is indended for the people who are in NEED, not clever twerps.

    2) The meaning of the verse is to give generously. It doesn't promote being unwise with your money.
Consider the expression "Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice shame on me". It simple meaning
is to teach people that they should not be foolish.

    3) It does not say that Jesus allows you to take just one statement and ignore the others.
The legal code says 'No Jaywalking' yet if you see a man collapsed in the center
of the street you are wrong/evil/a bad citizen if you don't go out there and
help him. Does that change the jaywalking law. No.
Why do you think the bible reports Jesus and Paul NOT turning the other cheek when they were struck.

    4) Jesus said "it is sinful to take one verse in isolation". That is what you are doing.
Example: When you were a kid and Mom said don't leave the house, what would you do if it
caught fire? Stay in the house ? Of course not. The verse is set on certian guidelines. That explains
why it is NOT a Commandment.

    5) The bible states in several verses and paragraphs on the importance of not being
attached to our worldly possessions. Hense giving money does not help, its hurting.:)

    6) Jesus also said to pray for those who spitefully use you. I believe this is what God wants,
    not to give the $2000.

    7) The atheists tend to take most all scriptures out of context, and interpret them to their benefit. The same way for example as when you talk to the police and you say "I didn't kill him" then they say in court She/he said "kill him". Then acuse you as an accessory of Murder.
It takes a shallow minded person to misunderstand something when it's deep reasoning and meaningful purpose is before their eyes. The type of usage of that scripture by their standards, sounds to me like extortion.

    8) Proverbs 23:9 Do not speak wisdom in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.

THIS IS PROPABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON THAT WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND BETTER
    9) From the time of the early Church Fathers a prominent interpretation has been an emphasis on the context of Jesus' preaching: the coming Kingdom of God (which he was introducing.) Jesus was explaining how the "rules of life" would be very different in the Kingdom of God and entirely based upon the concept of love. So in the particular verse you cited, a citizen of the Kingdom (as introduced at the beginning of Matthew chapter 5 with the Beatitudes) would not turn down a hungry person who asks for a LOAN ("borrow"). [In that culture, a loan was understood as something needed for survival until the person could get sufficient work to pay for food -- not a business loan, home mortgage, or car loan! The average person just didn't deal with borrowing except for purposes of survival.] So in the Kingdom, the citizen was not to ignore the hungry neighbor but was driven to say YES when someone asked for a loan for that day's food. Indeed, in that culture, many people depended on their labor of that day to pay for that day's food, and so if they couldn't work for some reason, they went hungry that day.
Jesus was NOT addressing the situation of some lazy fool simply coming up to a person and demanding money for no urgent, life-saving purpose. Jesus' audience understood this context, in part from the teachings of various rabbis. So what is often a mystery to people today when they read the Bible was not so mysterious to those in first century Palestine.

Really? that's funny. Ever since I've been at Dp all I've seen is the atheists do is run around hating on other people and their beliefs. The whole Atheist way is to run around looking at everyone else and bashing them. You call that fundamentalist mindset........didn't think so. Take a look at our proud Atheist Leader ST0x here. A million words against everyone else but nothing good about his own way.

Oh, here he is. What an honor to speak to someone with such a reputation status!!!
Security: My security is real, it exists, and I feel hmmmm....satisfied and at peace. You have low dignity to run around hating yourself.
Dignity: In your eyes I'm stupid, foolish, and illusional. In my eyes you are shallow, trolly, and just a bully. To the gays eyes the straight people are cruel, to the straights the gays are disgusting. And who is to choose the side who has the dignity? And why would you think that YOU are the one? Common sense= part of brains.
Brain: Umm, my pinky finger has more intelligence in it than your whole mind. You live your life running around hating on everyone else. You are unsatisfied & unfulfilled with life to you lash out at everyone. To blame people before you've seen them doing something.
Respect: "Anyone ever had with me." Blunt and wrong. Spoken like a true Atheist huh stox. You act like you know me and jump to these weird little conclusions like this. I have plenty of friends, people I've helped, and onlookers over the years who find me very respectable.

Just to let you people know since you Atheists like to create teams and go after people and you Christians like to jump to conclusions. I'm not Christian myself.

Don't get me wrong. You are the perfect example of why I argue on the matter of Atheists are "smarter" than people in religion. You run around saying your smart, happy, are good person, and say people of religion are the opposite but you spend your life harassing people, picking fights, causing trouble, and looking for a chance for someone to be alone so you and your team can throw stones.

Now go and huddle with your Atheist team some more. Feel free to ignore your lost fights like the "donate me money one" and just bring it up next week when you think no one will remember how stupid your argument was.

I know. A common personality of the common Atheist(mocking, mouthing off, twisting words around, and misinterpreting everything. Oh, and that for the compliment. I'm sorry that I'm not that young anymore.:)

Of course not. I've known this group for a couple of months. They pm each other an organize "plans of attacks" on mouthing off in this forum. I'm surprised "freetheNoob" and the others are not here yet.

Know what's funny? As much shit as jesus spoke he did also say some pretty kind stuff, which isn't that remarkable for a fictional character, papa smurf was pretty nice too, but i have never met someone so unlike christ as the christians. For people who claim he is their saviour they listened to nearly none of what he said.

I guess that's another one we can chalk up to "christians don't believe in this shit any more than i do", just like when all of them decided to disobey christ and not give us their money and like how even though a mountain can supposedly be moved by the prayer of a believer, they still opt for seat belts and medicine, just like we do.

laceyguypretendingtobeagirl, why do you think jesus was lying when he told you to turn the other cheek? Or was he just wrong?

Jesus was universally betrayed and only by bringing to Justus the crucifiers will his true meaning ever be revealed.

You are 100% clueless of the concept of christianity. Why bother talking about it Stox.
You lost me. Who exactly are you talking about when you say "They don't give us their money and disobey God". Are you talking about Christians giving to Atheists, Churches giving to the poor, Atheists giving to atheists, what?
The bit abou tthe mountain being moved through prayer: The important part is not that is was moved, the lesson taught is for people to understand the strength of prayer and the REASON for it needed to be moved. The bible and all christains agree that in the world you must take control of your own destiny. This includes saftey and well being. Being a Christain does not mean that God basically handles your life.
We have talked about this before, stox. You keep making up the laws of a religion in your mind then you acuse and blame everyone that its stupid.
I don't recall saying Jesus lied in the topic, and I don't recall considering he was wrong. Are you just making up stuff in your head again?

BTW, if you want to put $10,000 on my gender, you just tell me where to sign and I'll throw you a salute picture anytime. Not that I expect you to consider backing up anything you say in your empty words.

For future reference, those squiggly lines with a dot under them are "question marks", they mean the previous sentence is a question.

Ok, now you have been taught basic English, let's get on to your points... oh, my mistake, you didn't make any.

Nah you're ok mate, i once went on chatroulette, i don't want any more surprise penis'.

Not sure who Justus is, but unlikely any of the culprits are around 2000 years or so later, so you can put the dogs back in the pickup & call off the hunt.

@lacey, doing social service by spreading awareness about how stupid religions are and making people smarter is much more productive and self-satisfying than going around praying to the tooth fairy and defending the idea of existence of a fairy.

And I love it when I make people abandon their religion - 2 victories in this thread ;)
