@nehemiah do you believe in the following:

    1. Abortion is "wrong"
    2. The world is only 6,000 years old.
    3. Stem cell research is "evil".

I think I only have a problem with the Christians who believe at least two of the following above, I actually don't have a problem with those types of Christians, I just find it a bit of absurd.

You missed a fourth; people like this:

WAUSAU, Wis. — The mother of an 11-year-old central Wisconsin girl who died of undiagnosed diabetes as the family prayed for her to get better testified Tuesday that she believes sickness is caused by sin and can be cured by God.

Leilani Neumann told the jury in her husband's trial that she thought her daughter's March 2008 illness was a test of her religious faith and she didn't take the girl to a doctor because that would have been "complete disobedience to what we believe."

Dale Neumann, 47, is charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the 2008 death of his daughter Madeline Neumann, called Kara by her parents. His wife was convicted of the same charge this spring and faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced Oct. 6.

Prosecutors contend Dale Neumann recklessly killed the youngest of his four children by ignoring her deteriorating health. They claim Neumann had a legal duty to take her to a doctor.

Leilani Neumann testified for nearly five hours Tuesday, describing the events leading up to her daughter's March 23, 2008, death on a mattress on the floor of the family's rural Weston home as people surrounded her and prayed. Someone called 911 when she stopped breathing.

Yes - nailed me, as well; guess it's why I committed the sin of bumping an old thread. I see this crap and can't deal with it well.

Here's a story that was in the news today. A woman said she was hearing voices and the devil made her kill her son. She stabbed her 4 week old baby repeatedly, cut his head off, ate his brain, and a few of his toes. source

I saw the headline for that, couldn't bring myself to even read the story. Just seems like more and more of this crap is happening - beginning with the growth in school shootings and mass killings over the last several years. I wish I could be hopeful for our species, but I'm afraid my pessimism gets the better of me, a lot of the time.

In a country that still a big portion of population thinks that it is a sin to spend government money on education, welfare and mental/physical health care of people and the government should only spend money on weapons, it is no wonder that many people with mental health problems will never be detected until the worse of them end up in front page news.

Not to mention a country that still has a big ol' nice chunk that thinks condoms and birth control is also a sin...

From what I read, it sounds like the mother had schizophrenia and postpartum depression. The father of the baby left her a week before this incident, and it sounds like she went over the edge. It reminds me of that lady, Andrea Yates that had postpartum depression and psychosis. She took her 5 children one by one, and drowned them in the bathtub. It does seem like violence in general is becoming more and more common, it may be the result of a more stressful world?

Abortion and birth control was the hugest factor in turning many developing and emerging countries around for the better, as well as turning around the crime rate of many metropolitan cities in the US.

Example: A 17 year old pregnant woman addicted to crack in the early 70s didn't have an option of abortion, would have to to give birth to a crack baby who most likely would be born addicted to crack, and that child would most likely be committing his first felony by the age of 14.

    I wasn't talking about fetusflesh.

I was talking about men putting on a goddamn condom at the very least to prevent the need of abortions.

You jump completely over my 3 questions (posed in the initial post of this thread), to ask me 3 questions, to which you're probably atheist/agnostic-praying that I answer; and I'm suppose to just ignore and/or overlook that, right?

Here's a suggestion, start a thread, and pose those questions. . .and I'll be happy to answer them for you. But not here, especially since you've conveniently neglected to answer my questions. And that goes for anyone else who attempts this in this thread.

AKA Mentally Retarded parents. Just like that one cancer case where the boy was smuggled over to another country even though his dad wanted him to get treated.

I think I know the answer now. The first thing G-d would have created would be time, otherwise there would be no "in the beginning."

Am I right, or am I right?:)

Wait, for time to exist there has to be the universe, and for the universe to exist there has to be dimensions... So they must always exist, as one cannot come before the other.

    In order for what you've stated here ("for time to exist there has to be the universe") to be so, "the universe" would have to be Eternal (without beginning or ending), in order for "time" to be dependent upon it for its existence;

Now, are you, "the big bang theory" believing, devout atheist that you are, saying that your Science is wrong about how old "the universe" is. . .seeing as to how you just stated that. . .:eek:ps:eek:!

Yes I am. A universe is only a part of a greater idea, the multiverse. Where every instance of infinite possibilities exist. In one of these infinite universes this exact conversation is happening 100 years from now, and in another 100 years back. For every choice made, the unmade choice makes its own universe. Infinitum. It always has been, it always will be, there is no beginning to the multiverse, metaverse, or whatever you wish to call it, and no end. Until someone can prove me otherwise, I will not be changing that view. In an infinite number there are big bangs happening now, crunches, and everything in between.

    When have I stated otherwise?
