That is what others thought... Here is what jesus himself said.
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets"

very. most of those require an enormous stretch to assume that they are referring to homosexuality. And any connection with homosexuality is a result of the readers obsession with it.

Interpretation seems to be a crutch that you rely on entirely. all you do, Time and time again, Is look at the bits that support what you already believe and ignore the rest. it;s why conservatives gravitate towards it. it gives celestial justification for some of the most rancid opinions i have ever heard, You just have to look in the right place.

Where do you think science or scientist gets its knowledge from, the almighty God. Think about it?

Every thing is vague for a reason! God wants you to put effort to figure it out. That is why Jesus spoke in riddles.

you forgot to finish the verse, Jesus comes to fulfill the law, fulfill = complete. Interpretation is needed to understanding anything that is read, whether it be a bible or a science book. You have to rely on context, the context says homosexuality is wrong.

How can you, one that doesn't even believe the bible to be true, try to use it to justify something that is wrong, bit of hypocrisy if you ask me. You dont believe in God, The bible is interpreted by the holy spirit, which does not reside in you. So either except Jesus, or quit trying to understand it.

You don't need to believe something to pull it to pieces.

It's also important to remember that there are different versions of the Bible, with some translations contradicting others. Even the name "Jesus" is believed to be a mistranslation. Getting back to the OP's question, the calendar system used in the United States and many other parts of the world is based off Christian beliefs, but many historians (and Biblical scholars) believe the actual year is off by about 3-6 years from where it "should" be. The historians base this on the reigns of the kings mentioned in the New Testament, which would place the birth of Christ a few years before the year predicted by religious leaders several centuries after his birth, with those predictions being the foundation for our current calendar year.

I have seen some cases where bible translations were off a bit from others, but in the most popular translations, such as KJ, NIV, ASV, they are pretty close, and using context, the meaning is still obtainable.

It came from hundreds and hundreds of years of trial and error. To say that god had anything to do with it is pure ignorance. But ignorance is bliss.

First of all, you don't understand Big Bang theory at all. It doesn't say the world just appeared form nothing but from singularity. Singularity != nothing.

You think that "world developed from nothing is silly" yet you don't care to tell us who created your god. Or did he appear from nothing too? You are calling other peoples' opinions "silly" yet your own belief is synonym to silliness.

Religion has already caused so much evil but people still haven't learned from history. Religion is the major cause of all wars that ever occured. Religios people are willing to kill in the name of their god (crusades, inquisition etc) and they think it's right.

It's year 2008 and the church still hasn't apologized for horrible attrocities it caused during last centuries. They still haven't apologized for burning people on borders, burning books, opressing people, sending children to war. Not a single "sorry" from them.

If you believe in christian god, then tell me, do you accept all atrocities he has ordered in the old testament? Killing children, raping women and more violent acts. These are words of your loving god:

And tens of other cruelties directly ordered by god. Including slavery, murders, rapes, burning of cities, tortures etc. I just don't think this is "loving" god and should be respected.

George Carlin describes my opinion on religion pretty well (warning - he uses strong language):
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=MeSSwKffj9o

And don't take this personally, I know many of Christians and religious people and they are my good friends. But religion just doesn't make sense to me.

singular = 1, where does the one come form?

God exists, period, he was not created, he is supernatural. Other people (evolutionists, bigbangers) claim super natural feats, but deny the super natural elements. Christians simply rely on a super natural being (God) as the creator. Not only because there is no other explanation, but also because of eyewitness accounts of miracles preformed by men, and Jesus, in the name of God.

Read the new testament and explain to me how Christianity causes war. Jesus, tells us to love our enemies, and turn the other cheek. It is the natural man, in the flesh, that causes war, not man in the spirit.

Its a specific church, responsible for those things, and they aren't the true church, as i have said we are not to cause war or hate, we are to be of love an peace.

you are twisting the scriptures quite a bit, but all things God has done has been for the glory of his kingdom

the old world was a different world, the things done in the old testament were a preparation for the coming of Jesus, it was a warning in a since.

If your willing to take this persons opinion and consider it an appropriate summary of religion, i pity you.

A true Christian would not befriend a non believer, a little leaven leavens the lump. I don't expect you to understand that either.

Evolution isn't supernatural neither is Big Bang. Both are scientific theories (notice that term "scientific theorie" doesn't mean "theory" ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory) There is scientific evidence that supports both of them. There is exactly 0 evidence suggesting god or any other supernatural being exists. Yet the burden of proof (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burden_of_proof) lies on the one making the claim. When you are claiming "god exists" then either prove it or it will remain only your belief.
I am not twisting scriptures at all. You can check all of verses I quoted. They are direct speeches of god (I can post more if needed). And they clearly shows that he doesn't love equally all people. I don't think that loving father would order killing, raping and torturing his children.
And that is supposed to apologize all atrocities the god ordered? You could similary say that genocide wasn't that bad. It was just different times...
    Then be it.
You are making very fast judgements.

The "1" came from a big fart.

My explanation has about as much evidence to support it as your "god done it" has so i expect you to treat it with the same amount of respect as you demand, and then i would ask you to accept it as fact until you can disprove it.... now do you see how facile we think your arguments are?

I don't ask or "demand" you to accept anything, Thats between you and God. Im just telling you what i believe. For me evolution is disproved, because god created man, not a cell. Since i know in my heart, God is real and his word is true, evolution must be false. Evolution and Christianity, can not coexist, they are total contradictions of each other. For to say your religion is just as true as mine, would be the same as saying my religion isn't completely true, and i don't believe that.

Why don't we all stop with this thread and let people believe what they want.
From a personal view I know that there is no such thing as a superhuman power, I'm only in for evolution and physics.

But just let people believe in what they want as long as they don't go become too extreme.

We should have stopped this thread as soon as the Christian admitted his own thinking was completely illogical.

I have never heard such a backwards illogical argument as that. I think it would be best if you stopped trying to take part in grown up discussions.

the logical mind can not comprehend God. The logical mind says when a man dies, he stays dead. God surpasses the logical mind, by bringing the dead to life. The Christian mind is one that is filled with the spirit of God, and allows for interpretation, and understanding. I can only wish you saw the world through the eyes that i do. Christian thinking requires more than logic, something greater than logic, something that can only be understood, by the one that possesses it.

Like i said, its above and beyond logic, if you think with a logic mind alone, you will never get it. You may never open your mind or heart to accept what I'm saying. Nothing i say will ever convince you, only God can do that. If you really want to understand, i suggest you ask him with a sincere heart.

Nothing you say will convince me because nothing you say has any evidence or reason to support it. We can all make up childish nonsense, it's hardly an achievement, But if you claim what we are saying is wrong even though it has mountains of evidence to support just because it contradicts whatever nonsense you have been conned in to believing, it makes having any kind of productive worthwhile discussion with you a complete wast of time, and frankly an insult to everyone else's intelligence.

Willful ignorance and self inflicted illogicality is not something you should be proud of.

The least you could do is show some respect, i have respected your thoughts without calling names or trying to insult you. If you want to open the can on the flaws of evolution, say the word, and i will bring to the table, questions you and no other scientist can touch.

To say what i believe is childish, when you have never experienced it, just shows the ignorance and the lack of an open mind on your behalf. i have seen the truth, and it works within me. Why is it you do not believe in God? Because it hasn't been discovered in a physical since? Do you believe in gravity? Why because other scientist say its real? Just because science hasn't discovered it, does not mean it does not exist.

Again i am prepared to point out many scientific problems with the evolutionary theory, just give me the word and ill start with transitional forms, or the lack there of rather.

It's a shame that you find it offensive when people point out your obvious lack of capacity and logic. I can hardly be blamed for that though, They are your beliefs and you made them public. You aren't entitled to special treatment just because your views are "faith based", grown-ups generally ask for evidence before accepting anyone's claims. but thinking for yourself isn't your strong point, is it.

    I'll make it easy for you. I will list what needs to occur for evolution to be true, you simply have to tell me what step is false to disprove evolution;
1; Animals reproduce and pass on genetics
2; Genetic mutations occur in every generation
3; An organisms environment is a factor in determining how long the organism will live and how many offspring it will produce.

So have a go at falsifying one of those statements and then feel free to cut and paste some anti-evolution diatribe you have found from creationist sites and let me pull it to pieces. trust me simply, I know a lot more about evolutionary biology than you do so i hope you are prepared.

of course, I could dismantle your entire premise right now by pointing out that to assume creation is right if Darwinian evolution is wrong is fallacious. Specifically the false dichotomy fallacy. So technically you fail already. But what fun would dismantling your argument be if i first don't give you the opportunity to embarrass yourself by demonstrating your ability to cut and paste while showing utter dishonesty and a complete lack of understanding of evolution.

    Edit:
simply all you would have to have done was google "trasitional fossils" to see an extensive list showing fish developing feet, Reptiles developing feathers, primates starting to walk upright. So that's that argument shot down, 1-0... next!
