Did you ever realize that those who are religious are open and caring? While those who don't are quick to judge?

Well obviously I can't say for EVERYONE. Simply a personal observation. Like Jeff Warrens doesn't seem like the nicest guy in the world, but checkout a local church and you'll feel welcome. The most caring and understand people that I know are very religious.

    Again, just an observation.

I really need to appreciate Atheists, cause they are the ones who really think and act rather than blindly follow what ever their parents ask them to follow.

Now, let me try to explain why God exists. Lets me ask you, who would be the first person to be able to explain the mechanism of a some machine ? Obviously it would be the manufacturer or the one who designed it. Right ?

Now science explains that the universe came into existence by a Big Bang, i.e, The Big Bang Theory. The Holy Quran has explained this 1400 years ago. You can refer to Chapter no.21(The Prophets) Verse no.30 of the Holy Quran.

    It says
Next, it was long believed that the moon has its own light. But some 100 or 200 years back it was discovered that moon light is reflected light from the sun. Again the Holy Quran has explained this 1400 years ago. You can refer to the Chapter no.25 Verse no.61.

    It says
Here in Arabic the word used for Moon is Munir or nur which means reflected light or borrowed light.

You can indeed verify these with any online Holy Quran translations that is authentic.

Like wise there are more proofs. If you want me to explain I will be ready to do so.

why is when you want to make a point about a Christian, you always chose the most extreme radical person their is, why not pick my grandmother?

Francis Bosher, Christian: foster mother to 4 children, mother of 2, wife for 47 years, 4 years spent in Africa in 1975-79, helping feed hungry children

There are many that claim to be Christian, that act a bit out there, they dont stick to the bible, or they try enforcing the bible with force, i dont know if they are Christians or not, but it is not the way of the lord. As Christians we are supposed to set examples to unbelievers, we are supposed to represent God, unfortunately many of us make God look bad, because it is impossible to imitate him perfectly.

Because the point was made that those who are religious are caring and those who aren't are quick to judge. By demonstrating that the exact opposite of that statement i have disproved it.

With all due respect to the Quran, "heavens and the earth were joined together" is not exactly what the big bang theory talks about., or does it?

For me its too vague. Its like Nostradamus' predictions which can be interpreted in different ways by different people.

The Christian standard is to be caring and loving and such, but as Ive mentioned, we do slip.

The people in this Phelps ministry, or other Christians, really should speak out against this type of behavior, because it is uncalled for. It is not how we are called to behave, we aren't really supposed to judge, but the scriptures can. The scriptures tell us how a Christian should behave, and Phelps folks are wrong according to them.

Everyone should speak out against the phelps, They are a disgrace to humanity. However, What they say is supported in the scriptures. The bible does say homosexuality is an abomination and it does say, On numerous occasions, That god had brought misfortune upon people and villages because they went against him.

You are simply falling in to the trap of "only my interpretation is right" again.

To an extent this might be because of the fact that religious ppl believe in the concept of heaven and hell. So they might go out of their way, to help people and make sure they are extra caring so that a berth in heaven is reserved for them.

Example - As the Bible states, true Christians, might show their other cheek when someone slaps them, for no reason at all. But as an athiest, I'll bash up the person, who slapped me :D

The concept of Heaven and Earth is amazing. The concept has been portrayed well in M. Night Shyamalan's movie - The Village in which the population of a small, isolated countryside village were made to believe in the existence of mythical creatures in the nearby forests, by a group of powerful villagers. The concept of Heaven and Earth is also partly based on the classic HR concept of punishment and reward!

On the other hand atheists and agnostics do not believe in Heaven and Hell. Many of them believe in Darwin's Theory - survival of the fittest.

    Just my 2 cents...

Oh dont get me wrong, i agree with what they are saying, homosexuality is defiantly a sin in scriptures. Its been around since biblical times, and was hated then just as it is by many today. I only argue, on how Phelps is handling this situation, the picket lines, and offensive speeches, its not how we are to handle these things.

Why not? if you believe homosexuality is a sin and gays go to hell what valid reason could you have for not telling people of this at every available opportunity? Surely the "christian" thing to do is try to save people from hell, If you have to hurt the feelings of some abominable sinners family at his funeral, that's a small price to pay, Isn't it?

It's also interesting that earlier you referred to the phelps as "the most extreme radical person their [sic] is". And in the above post you say you "agree with what they are saying". It seems in religion the line between fundamentalist nut case and loving christian is so thin it is practically nonexistent.

By the way, The bible uses the same description of eating shell fish as it does for homosexuality. it calls it an "abomination". Do people who eat shrimp go to hell? What do you think about people who eat shell fish? I get the feeling you don't have a problem with people eating shellfish and are just picking verses from the bible to justify your bigotry and homophobia.

It is told, but not in ways that are aggressive with intentions to make someone angry. It should be told in a way that is peaceful.

When calling Phelps, radical and extreme, i was speaking of his actions, i dont know enough about their beliefs, to make such a call. I do agree that homosexuality is a sin.

The difference is a Christian should approach people with love, not vicious insulting words, we are to love all, including our enemies.

Shellfish is no longer unclean (a sin) as the old ritualistic commands are no longer in effect because Christ has freed us from those bonds.

However homosexuality is mentioned many times in the new testament as forbidden.

I wont post the passage where jesus talks about what his arrival means for the OT. I have posted it many times and you apparently just deny that it exists, Likely because it would discredit the biblical justification of your apparent dislike of gays and your love of shrimp. Suffice to say, The arrival of jesus and the new testament had no effect on the validity of the OT and the rules it laid down. jesus clearly says he hasn't come to abolish the old laws and that not one word shall be removed until the end of time.

I was only aware of one reference to homosexuality in the NT and it is a very vague reference which has speculation attached that it was a mistranslation of the Greek word "malakos" which means "soft fabric" to mean "effeminate man". Could you show me one of the "many" condemnations in the NT that undoubtedly speak about homosexuality and don't require a far fetched interpretation, Preferably one involving jesus' own words.

Hebrews 10:9: …He took away the first covenant to establish the second.
Hebrews 8:13: In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 7:18-19: A former commandment is annulled because of its weakness and uselessness, for the law made nothing perfect; but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Hebrews 8:6-7: Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better than the old covenant, since it is founded on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.

Hebrews 7:22: This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

Hebrews 9:15: He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant…

Galatians 3:13: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

Colossians 2:14: Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

2 Corinthians 3:5-6: …our sufficiency is from God, who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Romans 7:4-6: Therefore, you also have become dead to the law through Christ… Now that we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

John 1:17: For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Luke 16:16: The law and the prophets reigned until the time of John: and since that time, the kingdom of God is preached, and every man strives to go in.

    New testament on homosexuality

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God

    Romans 1:26-27 (King James Version)
    King James Version (KJV)
    Public Domain

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

    1 Timothy 1:9
9realizing the fact that (A)law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and (B)rebellious, for the (C)ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and (D)profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers

10and (A)immoral men and (B)homosexuals and (C)kidnappers and (D)liars and (E)perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to (F)sound teaching,

    Jude 7

7just as(A) Sodom and Gomorrah and(B) the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and(C) pursued unnatural desire,[a] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

    Vague huh?
