Johnnie the problem is who decides whats law in atheism? Is there a grand poo-baa or something? Who decides whats common sense? You can stretch these 2 anyway u want to in atheism as they are open to interpretation at anytime from anyone in society who controls the media.

If you believe that religions are always biased against those that dont believe then you really havent read much on world religions. In the bible jesus talked about the good samaritan. Do you know the story? It was actually about an atheist and jesus put him on a pedestal above the believers. I bet you didnt know this did you? There are other references to atheists in there.

I dont have any problem with atheists but there are some that have a massive prejudice against all religions and they seem to make it there goal to spread falsehood and stretch meanings in all religios books to suit their needs and their inner hatreds. These are the atheists that dont have peaceful intentions in their hearts. Opps, strike that last sentence as atheists dont believe that they have a mystical heart;)

Laws are enacted by an elected legislative institution we commonly call 'the government'. They are not influenced by some 2000 year old book, but are based on equality, fairness and basic human rights. So insead of having some arbitrarily chosen white-clad German guy in Rome influence our way of life, we trust the judgement of ourselves and those we elect.

Whilst its certainly nice to see there is at least some respect for atheists in the bible, both the bible and the quran still holds strong prejudice against people who are not 'of the book'.

People decide ultimately, Collectively, like they have for Millenia before your particular story was invented.

Is your "religious belief" the result of your aversion to thinking for yourself? You don't seem to trust yourself with making decisions unless you are, at least, guided or, at most, directly instructed to do something.

Would the good samaritan go to hell for not accepting jesus?

Yes i have. Even when i didn't know that "atheists" existed i can remember having to go to church with the cubs and feeling sorry for the priest. Imagine that, being pittied by a 9 year old child because what you believe in is so obviously bollocks.

I was religious twice. Once from 2-5. Then from 12-14. It was at 14 that I realized what a sham it was.

Depends on the way you were raised & your environment/society. Many people stick with religion till the day they die.

    Peace,

Which in itself is an argument against religion; its too location-depedent.

Well, I certainly was never discouraged from following blindly. I just began to read books at the public library.

    The evil of knowledge.

wrong comparison. From an atheistic point of view, theres no faith. So:

    Atheism - 110,000,000

    No Faith - 284,638,000 - 110,000,000 = 174638000. Hooray.

I'm new here -- but why is this ignoramus calling atheism a religion?

Calling atheism a religion is like saying not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Consequently, how do you do something in the name of atheism, if it's a lack of belief -- a nonexistent one? Doing something in the name of nothing is nothing short of absurd. I came to this forum expecting legitimate arguments, but I find people like this who remain completely ignorant and untruthful about all the "facts" that they know and attempt to use them against others.

    My baddd, sorry I meant:

    Atheism - 110,000,000

    Faith - 284,638,000 - 110,000,000 = 174638000

Another person who has yet to grasp the commonly understood meaning of the word Atheism. It's Ok. I forgive you for your ignorance, and so does Jesus. Mohamed, on the other hand, just wants to bone you up the ass. :D
