We have somewhere close to a billion threads about hating Jews, Christians, and Muslims. I figured we could use a thread about Atheism. As Atheists don't have a god or a book of scriptures, Atheism will always be, to some extent, a "choose your own adventure" experience. Some Atheists say Atheism is a religion, others disagree. Some capitalize Atheism, others don't. Everyone has their own views, so lets explore some of them here. I volunteer to play the part of your friendly neighborhood Atheist. What questions do you have about Atheism and Atheists?
I think I can speak for all Atheists in answering this question. If irrefutable proof of God's existence were presented to us, we would all instantly change our minds. "I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." -- Stephen F Roberts
You must be thinking of Islam. Atheism doesn't teach anything; Atheism is a structure which humans can use to learn. Atheism doesn't have a set dogma beyond the simple "There is no deity" -- and even that would be changed instantly if evidence proved otherwise. Most Atheists come to some shared conclusions, one of which is that we as humans are responsible for our own actions. We Atheists don't have a "God" or a "Devil" to blame for our errors; we are forced to confront our every flaw and frailty. Through this process, most Atheists learn humility. Some of us take a bit longer than others. "Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions" -- Blaise Pascal
I don't think anyone is afraid of "Islam" per se, but a fear of morons with clubs, knives, guns, suicide vests, rockets, and heavy military equipment is definitely healthy. Atheists tend to be very sensible people, because we realize that this life is the only life we have. We can't blow ourselves up in a kindergarten and expect an eternal reward with 72 virgins waiting upon our every need.
You didn't give a direct answer to my question. Let me repeat it here for you. Do all atheists hate Islam as much as you do?
As an Atheist i don't dislike Muslims. Only the terrorist regardless of what religion they belong to. All Atheists hate all religions in my opinion.
Hold on, I'll send you a full refund of every dollar you paid. On this topic, I cannot speak for "all Atheists", because this isn't an issue which is related to Atheism. Personally, don't hate Muslims at all. I feel sorry for the poor lost spirits, unable to experience the full joy of their humanity due to errors in their upbringing. Life is especially hard for homosexuals like yourself, as Islam has always forced homosexuals to hide their true natures. You will be much happier if you give up the oppressive shell which is Islam and allow yourself to grow into the full being that you can be. If any of the Muslims in this thread want to connect with other Muslims who have outgrown Islam, you might try visiting Atheists Who Were Muslims.
Now we have two votes for "Atheists don't hate Muslims." I'm not sure the word "hate" is exactly the right word here? Whatever the word is, I think that most Atheists see religions on a sliding scale from "hokey but harmless" to "truly dangerous." Some of the nature worshipping hippie new-age crystal religions qualify easily as "hokey but harmless"; fundamentalist Islam definitely qualifies as "truly dangerous." "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -- H.L. Mencken
I think human beings did evolve from monkeys, some being or beings did create the universe (I'm not an atheist). but I don't believe in any men made religion. Just so we will have different point of views
Everything was created by something. Substances such as water, carbon dioxide, methane and hydrogen cyanide formed key molecules such as sugars, amino acids and nucleotides. Such molecules are the building blocks of proteins and nucleic acids, compounds ubiquitous to all living organisms. Then evolution took over. Science has overwhelming oposed the creation of the universe and all life on earth in 6 days. Even a religious person knows that such theory is absurd.
Is believed that frozen meteors bombarding earth billions of years ago created the oceans and they also brought nutrient and minerals necessary to start life. I can see that you are going to keep asking who created the meteors and on and on. The universe as we know is continuously expanding most scientist belief on the big bang theory were a immense dense meter and energy exploded and small particles from the explosion gathered and formed meteors which themself gatherend in to bigger mass to form planets. Now some one could argue that God made big bang happened. Sure it could be but our lovely religious books surly don't teach us this theory.
What can that be? What do we call them? Can I say that our knowledge is so limited now, stopping us from exploring even further? Similarly when you were a kid, you don't know how to bake a bread. But that doesn't meant that a bread exist by itself right
