Hello, i have a quality site that has several thousand pages. I need to add about 10,000 more product specific pages. These are all quality pages (not spam) but I feel if i added them all at once, google might not like it. What is the optimal rate to trickle in these pages over time? thank you
A large forum will get many new pages daily and they aren't penalized for it so i think you will be ok adding a large amount. Maybe not the whole amount at once, many 100 per day? I don't know how long it will take you to create the pages so it's hard for anyone to suggest really.
Hello, If your website is a online shop, then I don't think that adding a lot of pages at once would harm your rankings. Also, you say your pages will have real content and maybe will stay online for a longer time (not like 1-2 months). I doubt that google or any other SE would penalize any website for adding a lot of content at once. However, this doesn't mean that all your pages will get spidered and included in index all at once. You'll have to point some links towards some of those pages and ensure that website structure (read inner linking) is properly done.
If your site is regularly being crawled, add 1000 pages for 10 days. If your site is not getting crawled regularly, add few pages (say 10 or 20) for couple of days first to initiate the spider activity and then start adding pages on a mass scale. The idea is to have a natural looking update for your site. But if all the new pages got unique content, then adding them on a single day can't hurt. A press release about the new content on the pages helps. -Neo
