I have been in the affiliate marketing game for a little while now (I've only known what I'm doing for about a month though). I made my first clickbank sale with AdWords, but I believe I merely got lucky. Then, after wasting some more money on advertising I gave AdWords up and focused on free promotion. I would like to start using PPC again sometime soon in the future, but I was wondering just how much experience you guys think I should have under my belt before I start dumping more money into advertising.
I think it’s wise to wait until you feel 100% comfortable with setting up campaigns and know how to track every keyword that converts (or don’t convert). You don’t say what level of knowledge you currently have with Adwords, but that’s my 2 cents anyway.
if you are having success with a product with your free methods then you know the product sellls well so then you would use ppc using different ad groups with a small number of keywords to test which ones work and make sure you are making a profit. test with a hundred clicks you should atleast be able to make a sale per hundred hops
You'll need lots of testing/ and that means money. You can start whenever you like, try different networks and see which ones suits you better. However be prepared to lose/invest money. Al.
Hmm, I'm having to rethink a lot of stuff with these posts that I am reading. I went to a seminar and all they really said about was selling clickbank products via adwords so that is where I started (and haven't yet succeeded) but it seems like that isn't even half of the story...
This would deserve a VERY LONG posting but i really try to keep it short. For typical (Clickbank) affiliate marketing i would NOT recommend PPC. The reason is the average very low payouts (most products $30+/-).....average conversion rate 1:85 on clickbank and average COST PER CLICK. On several occasions i wrote already and made the math that Adwords does simply not if you see those numbers. IF it works then only after someone spend a lot of money on tweaking and split testing, it takes a long time until a campaign might finally be profitable. I think that other methods(article marketing, SEO) are far better for affiliates than adwords.
